  2. Thank-you Augie and for everyone with the likes, i just wish could keep her cleaner, and not look so tired,
  3. good afternoon work continues, as i try to catch up on all the months away from the build, and also try to catch up on all my friends logs the gammoning went in much better today, the knight heads caused me some headache as to whether i needed two or three sets of blocks, i decided to go for the three, i believe they are for the martingales, but all this is new to me and will try to learn the names and update the log as i proceed, the boomkins and walkway are not fixed
  4. been going through all the Victory logs now to look for Knightheads and martingale rigging, nothing that i have founfd in the instructions
  5. This artist’s impression from about 1779 shows Victory’s original appearance a few years after launch. There are some significant differences from how she looks today. The artist has described her as His Majesty’s ship Victory, a First Rate carrying 116 guns and a crew of 960. She is shown sailing by the White Cliffs of Dover.
  6. lol - i never thought of the ladder ropes, dam something i now need to think off

  8. Good evening everyone, England, autumn and it wained today, lots of it, not had much at all of the wet stuff ever since the new roof went on, back in august well spent most of today in the man cave, hoping to achieve much more than actually did the bow-spit is in and wont be coming back out, pinned in 3 places, the gammoning stops has become a real pain, i made them over a year ago, directly from the plans (well that was the first stoooopid mistake), because when i came to fit it all together they didnt line up with the access holes, and as a result the lines were at a angle, and as the bow-spit was fully fitted i had to do it in situ, 5 times a plum line did not help that much as there is not a clear route to get it to work i think i have it sorted now and will retry the rope work in the morning
  9. lovely work, so many builds I follow are now coming to the end, but then again I would be if I had not made so many mistakes and excuses to be in the man- cave, whats your plans for a next project

  14. i still have a lot of hull work to do, but i wanted to ensure that everything i do from now on lines up with the masts, as when the stun booms are fitted my reach is going to be quite restricted
  15. 30kgs when i bought her, she has put on weight since, i will update when i get the chance
  16. i need to look into better lighting, the spots give out to much heat and my photo's and to dark/yellow
  17. Mark good evening there is a pitch on my garage roof and the build is sat about 1/2 way with about 4 inches to spare when at full height but the lights will be in the way i will have to clear part of the work bench to give myself more height, but means stopping and sorting it out
  18. Good afternoon my friends masting continues, and all are wip the main still has to grow another 6 inches but i am getting close to the ceiling, the main top still has to have blocks fitted the bowspit is more or less finished with the exception of painting and blocks, must admit i enjoyed build that the plans didnt help through, worse than useless wrt to some of the info required
  19. click on your name select profile right hand side towards the top, edit my profile
  20. i achieved much better results on my 5th attempt - still not perfect but i tried i took advice from the keith jullier book i found the centre on the ship at the waterline and fixed 7 rows of 5 offset tiles then i continued fwd and aft from the 7th row - whilst keeping parallel with the keel, this brought me back to the waterline, then filled in at about 11 rows down i then went from the keel upwards and this ensured the gore-line was hidden under the waist of the build, my biggest headache was matching the stern so both sides looked the same
  21. http://www.shipmodelersassociation.org/misc/VictoryKitResearchWatton.pdf have a look on page 10
