  1. Foremast lower shrouds done on both sides, too white and too fluffy this was always going to be a temp fit, the mast needs painting and the forward cannons need securing - and you know what - i am loving it - i am so back into this build took the day off work to do those on the port side
  2. Frank - good afternoon another build i have caught up on - love the weathering -hope you are fully fit again now - even though that was a few weeks ago
  3. Hi Dominic yes pre planning doesn't always work - great thing about it is that it can all be salvaged and redone - lovely work though
  4. anyone any good ideas for getting some decent indoor phots of my build - the mancave is proving very hard to get decent shots due to cluuter, and not the best lighting
  5. Finished the fitting of the shrouds on the foremast lower, and made a jig to keep the dead eyes at more or less the same distance, but raised them slightly higher than the plans suggest - looks as if they are higher in real life and some of the other builds i follow
  6. Good evening everyone today was perhaps the best spent three hours i have ever had on this build, thoroughly enjoyed it, i can confirm lol that me mojo is here to stay Foremast Standing rigging 1st two lines sets os lines to be placed are spliced and run down the port and stbd sides - these do not form ports of the shrouds I have found the mast to work on easier away from the build the next ten lines to be placed form two shrouds each, each pair goes to the same side, and the one above it then goes to the alternative side
  7. well we have something special to look forward to then don't we
  8. Mark I have missed you work so much , i cried for you (well not actually cried) when you abandoned the last one
  9. SJors nice to hear from you - lol you have already completed 1 1/2 builds in the time it has taken from the start to laying the first standing rigging lines
  10. Paul it has been a long while since I posted on your build (lol) what a lot of your you have done, she looks great, well done on avoiding putting the poor quality castings on and making your own well done, you have almost caught me up
  11. LOL i had forgotten just how long some bits of the rigging gets
  12. struggling taking decent photo.s in the man cave - will try better tomorrow, Im making hard work out of this - but thorougly enjoying it i am finding following the kits plans absolutely useless, most of the lines are tied off which means they served no purpose, tomorrow i will also label up the photo's
  13. Dominic - I will be making my own - once I source the correct material , whether that be silk, calico or Egyptian cotton the plans i will take out of my books I have not managed to fine a pre made sail set of the build - and i doubt they would include the stuns anyway, 37 I need in total
  14. Billl there is a very good planking tutorial on this site, http://modelshipworld.com/index.php/forum/14-building-framing-planking-and-plating-a-ships-hull-and-deck/
  15. Just found your log, I like the approach you took to the build - I will continue to watch you complete the build - good luck
  16. I never made any arrangements for an alternative stand - and I still don't know how she will be displayed in her Diorama setting
  17. thank-you Michael and Jerry it is nice to have my head buzzing again full of ideas - never had that in the projects that drew me away - other than i saw a an instant result as i glued part 1001 to 1002 - - yesterday i spent 4 hours putting a few lines in and lol nothing has changed
