  1. SJors nice to hear from you - lol you have already completed 1 1/2 builds in the time it has taken from the start to laying the first standing rigging lines
  2. Paul it has been a long while since I posted on your build (lol) what a lot of your you have done, she looks great, well done on avoiding putting the poor quality castings on and making your own well done, you have almost caught me up
  3. LOL i had forgotten just how long some bits of the rigging gets
  4. struggling taking decent photo.s in the man cave - will try better tomorrow, Im making hard work out of this - but thorougly enjoying it i am finding following the kits plans absolutely useless, most of the lines are tied off which means they served no purpose, tomorrow i will also label up the photo's
  5. Dominic - I will be making my own - once I source the correct material , whether that be silk, calico or Egyptian cotton the plans i will take out of my books I have not managed to fine a pre made sail set of the build - and i doubt they would include the stuns anyway, 37 I need in total
  6. Billl there is a very good planking tutorial on this site, http://modelshipworld.com/index.php/forum/14-building-framing-planking-and-plating-a-ships-hull-and-deck/
  7. Just found your log, I like the approach you took to the build - I will continue to watch you complete the build - good luck
  8. I never made any arrangements for an alternative stand - and I still don't know how she will be displayed in her Diorama setting
  9. thank-you Michael and Jerry it is nice to have my head buzzing again full of ideas - never had that in the projects that drew me away - other than i saw a an instant result as i glued part 1001 to 1002 - - yesterday i spent 4 hours putting a few lines in and lol nothing has changed
  10. im glad to see the photo of the stand - as that was missing from mine - infact from a whole batch run, do check that everything is there i used admiralty paints for mine - and black spray paint from the larger bits good luck with the build
  11. well it is kind of a start - opening the box sometimes is one of the best bits, - lol it down hill from there
  12. Hi David i just saw that you have a new build in progress - you mind if i follow? - great start
  13. did some rigging today, today feeding lines from the knight-head through single blocks to the dolphin striker, not much achieved but enjoyable the spiritsail lower yard is temporary pinned to ensure i don't do anything stupid in the months ahead getting a little confused though how the spirit top saill is going to be fitted, imo the cloth would be snagged by the lines passing through the dolphin striker towards the top of the Jib anyway - i am sure i will find an answer
  14. quite a few logs on here - but i at present i am using the book http://www.amazon.co.uk/HMS-Victory-Construction-Career-Restoration/dp/1840675322 by Alan McGowan- hope to follow you -
  15. Nigel - it was your log for me to read this afternoon - my head is now buzzing with all the ideas that i have - stunning work my friend
  16. you did a fantastic job on this build - just reread your log from start to finish
  17. still finding my feet again as i well and truly get back into the build made the spiritsail yard and placed my first line onto the build, hopefully it will still be there tomorrow unless i am told the error of my ways and do it all over again going by the plans (well that was a stooooopid mistake I drilled the holes but the line fouls the lower cheek so a few holes to patch up - i dont see any other way around it
