Piet thats the best photo i can see for now, but allows for an anchorage point of all the lower set studding sails, those, those above have extensions fitted to the yards, which are extended as required

today i also unpacked the stun boom that i made last year, just to remind myself how big this thing is going to get, so my questions about upper deck cannons will become irrelevant as in a case you wont get anywhere near enough to see them

Good evening everyone, welcome to the weekly outside photo shoot of my wheelie bin with the build sat on top, not so smelly this week the companion ladder took me longer to do than anticipated, but i am pleased with the result

thanks Daniel i was hoping to run all mine on the upper deck fwd to aft, but it appears that i have no option now other than to play the game and just rig them in the secured position, this is all because i wanted the build in a sail past diorama setting,, hence the gun port lids in a venting position , when all the cloth is set including stuns very little will be seen anyway, thanks for getting back to me
-
hello my friend - how Dafi? i would like the upper gun deck on my Victory in a Secured from action diorama, do you have any info on if and how the upper gun deck had the cannons lined up fwd to aft, and how or where they were situated, i don't think i have actually seen this though your work i want to have more available room on the upper deck

Joe and Mark thank you , i have no intentions of making the build look silly, but i still don't know how to ask the right question LOL i want more space on the upper deck and the sticky outy things are in my way

ok i get the point there are no stoopd questions but i am going to ask one anyway but to set the question up i need to state why i am asking it My HMS Victory will be set into a diorama setting post Trafalgar, this will be after Nelson death and before she is retied from active service she will be on a sail past of say Gibraltar and alll sails set including stuns, i want to display a lot of crew aloft and (silly i know have some sort of band playing on the upper deck), getting to my question is i don't want to display the upper deck cannons, very little would be seen anyway with all the stuns booms set, So did the Royal Navy promote the Rn in the early 19th century, did they go around the world promoting world dominance, and therefore have a 1st rate sailing around with cannons offloaded of course i doubt that, there was always conflicts going on, so i guess this leads on to possibly another question where do i put them if the decks are to be cleared for the need of catering for quests and dignitaries as she fly the flag i know what i want - i just don't quite know how to ask the question

Iron on veneer
Kevin replied to maltbyguy's topic in Building, Framing, Planking and plating a ships hull and deck
I know Doris uses veneer on her card models, is this the same stuff (knowing me the answer will be no)

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
