    Hello lovelies,
here is the news again. I have finished the second planking above the bark timbers. There were problems at the bottom. Unfortunately, I started tapering too late and too hesitantly, which is why the mouldings started to take an S-curve and bulge.
So I decided to leave the original and continue from the keel upwards. While the mouldings were drying on the hull before they were glued, the gun ports were made with a cutter knife and file. Which brings us to the next problem, because I measured them incorrectly and unfortunately everything is now 1.5mm too high. This can no longer be changed.
A Corel structure like this is not quite as simple as I thought. It seems to me that this is going to be a disaster. But to be honest, that doesn't bother me either, because it makes the learning curve steeper than ever.
I'm also not one of those people who would tear everything down again just to iron out the one or two millimetres. It has to look nice in the end and be fun to build until then.
This kit doesn't emphasise attention to detail anyway, so I'll go along with the developer and build a creative version.
Somewhere in the history I found a date on which the Victory sailed into the harbour from a Baltic Sea voyage totally dilapidated and warped.
This will also be the date of my depiction, so we can be flexible.
    Stay healthy

is the correct answer....I never get too hung up on mistakes....i like my builds to have knocks and scrapes on them....a perfect looking model ship looks too sterile and soulless....you are now part of your Victory and it tells your story of the build......looks fine to me.

One thing I've learned over time is that small mistakes on models like this tend to be overwhelmed by the greater majesty of the complex finished product. This model certainly qualifies; it's gorgeous to look upon and any oddities you know about can be conversation pieces with knowledgeable visitors.

my builds are full of mistakes.....knocks, scrapes, scratches, dints, ...i leave them in as it is the soul of the build....I hate to see a pristine build with no scratches and scrapes....mine have blood stains and errors to many to mention. For me it is the story of the build. The evidence of a builder putting everything into it......the errors and mistakes are what make the build personal.
