  1. Thks OC out of all the years I have been building never thought to use bluetack that way for exhaust. Kevin
  2. Yes it will EG and I think I will use some of the Gloss Grey by Alclad over the Gloss Black of some panels and see the effect as discussed earlier in your thread I think Airframe Silver it's kinda bright.
  3. I have commence on the Sabre this evening first thing in order was to remove the pore stubs from the moldings a bit of sanding on the tub that actually hit the sanding belt for 5/10minutes to get if close then another 15 minutes by hand it fits correctly level with the r/side of the fuse. The next order of business is to cut out the front console for newer one much more detailed and you can see how the back deck is much Nicer than the kit part oh and the seat blows the kit part away. The kit supplies the appropriate weight for the nose nice touch no guessing their on this one.The build is going to center on the pit and paint the engine is made like the old Hase were it can be separated paint some and glue it shut. Kevin
  4. I continue to move slowly of this have the ordnance installed now with the tanks.I am still fussing over the canopy may just take some ammonia to the clear part of it and take off the future I tried spraying it instead of the usual dip and got foggy some polish helped but not to my liking have to see and think.I still have to put the glass on the sniper pod a decal for the H213 pod and respray the nose after a lite sanding. All in all I have enjoyed this one and learned some things along the way appreciate the info and corrections Joe.
  5. I used Future on the F-84 it seemed to work well usually not a big fan of sealers for the reasons you speak of and the reason I don't play with powders as much I have a bottle of SNJ powder I use for touchups.I bought some of Alchald's clear light sheen in N.Orleans the other day just to see but even Testors Metalize Clear knocked the sheen down a bit hence why I backed off for the F84 I still/forgot the OD anti-glare panel also and decals are on the future should protect them. Will be watching to see your results.
  6. I have used powders and they can do up a nice effect but beware the fingers once applied do gloss afterwards before decals are laid or you will have silver in the decals.I have often thought that if you shaded the panels beneath one should get variations in color(s) provided the paint is sprayed oh by the way I usually applied the powder over a silver paint.I think if you did gloss black, rattle can bright silver and pick panels with the powder you will get a Nice effect. Kevin
  7. A gloss coat of black gives a shiny coat you could gloss coat a flat black and probably get a shiny finish but why dig a ditch and fill it up when a gloss black will do the job?I did a flat black on a PTO P-38 it came out grainy and flat hated it "Virginia Marie" I use Alclad Black Lacquer Primer Gloss it works well NM is a medium I am becoming more and more comfortable with. Kevin here are the two planes the left is VM(about 4/5 years back) flat black the other gloss black(3yers ago) depending on the paints used Alclad goes down thin and I really could of used more on VM and the other while I did a better job still a little more was needed it shows in angles.
  8. So how long did it take you?I like belts but some companies are more of a pain than others I used RB Productions for the P-51 "Flying Dutchman" about 1 1/2 --2 hrs tops printed paper Now HGW's while nicer in the fabric a PIA for the very reason the material webbing was different.I am RB from here on out maybe it's I am just use to the procedure,The build is looking thus far EG I just wished I like the 104 more looks like a skinny lady Kevin
  9. Now lets talk TG I bought some the other day thinking it might work for PE railing?Whats says you?
  10. Don't know all the missile designations Joe but the one on the plane and three in the foreground the one with the tall fins are not going on I guess that's the 9X?
  11. I made the rest of the stencils for the aircraft pretty easy. The son just refuses to get back with me about the pilots name maybe tomorrow night he will have the info when we skype for Now their is a new commander of the plane!!That should get him a laugh esp since it no longer his plane he has been outfitted to a support role.My son and I I use to play alot of games back in the day together and as opposites "Call of Duty" being one and we went with the name javlin alot "point of the spear" I told him.I have painted all the munitions and pods black base then neutral grey not quite as spotty since these pieces probably are better taken care of and stay boxed up.The munitions will take a bit of time for the stencils are few on some of them. The little F84 is for fun wish I would of left it chrome though looked cooler all polished but it shall suffice. This being my week off figured I run to "The Hub" in New Orleans today pic up some supplies many paints but hey you can't leave without some kits in your possession 1/48 Hase F4J- Phantom ,1/32 Revell Bu-131(not in stash anywhere odd) and 1/72 Do-17 read a review it was a very Nice kit! Kevin
  12. I can relate Phil happens with all of us and my projects are much shorter in duration but one can get burn out. Kevin
  13. Thks Joe much appreciated I got a little more done getting the main decals on stencils tomorrow.
  14. So is that were the pics are from?I have only been once back when I was kid 14 and I think we hit the history(dinosaurs) not enough time for both and at that point and time my ambition was to be an archeologist.
  15. So you do build looking good thus far Mike and those pics look like they came from the NAS in Pensacola a nice museum been there a few times.
  16. Thks Mike working on some homemade decals for canopy and the planes # got to get the pilots name now.
  17. I can't believe the wind and rain continues to happen 30hrs now of rain 7.9" and winds from 25-48mph and of that probably 15/20hrs was 30/48mph lot more significant than Hurricane Nate a couple years ago!Well you can see the trip to head out got cancelled due to the weather just as bad in Gainesville rain wise if not worst so figured could get some time in the shop so we have progress I like the black base panel lines in the Neutral Grey show up well and got the uneven coverage like weathered some. It's starting to look the part Kevin
  18. Interesting looking crate Denis will be a worthy addition to the collection Kevin
  19. Craig like the looks of the kit/build coming along very Nicely! Kevin
  20. She came out looking good Carl but what's the story behind the 1/48? Kevin
  21. Finally I got some motivation to move on this one ...all the right gizmos I Hope!I started the day by liquid masking all the lights and finishing up the copit. The canopy is the clear supplied with the kit #802 is smoked and it's tacked in with SG.The whole plane got a coat of black lacquer primer by Alclad including the wheel wells. The wheel wells will get painted white and it should make for some nice shading in the recesses. The other thing that finally came in took a while was the Avionics F-86 copit kit. Kevin
  22. That was my impression also. Very Nice Work Joe !! Kevin
