Greetings Robert If the guns are not central in the inner bulwarks you can centralize them by trimming and lowering or raising the the bulwarks. It all gets planked over. But the guns should be central in the apertures on the hull with no problem at all. So are the inner and outer apertures level, as that might show were the prob is, and it may be easy to sort. Just had another luck and I may be wrong but is it possible to lower the inner ports and tip the gun barrels upward ? Regards . DAVID

Greetings all Well at last I have made Some progress, not a lot, but at least progress. I will make my own stern decoration after checking through all the Caroline build logs, and I have dumped the supplied one. The stern has also been opened up to install the lighting, and both the port and starboard windows cannot be fitted until the lighting is installed. anyway I cannot see any problems and will carry on in my own willy nilly way and see how it goes. Here's a few photos, and thanks for comments and advice. DAVID

GreetingS Robert Well there you go, smoothing the hull was never going to be a prob after seeing the previous photo. Good luck with your deck planking and your choice of caulking which as you know can make a big difference to the look of the ship, as can the choice of varnish. Just enjoy your build....DAVID

Greetings Jerry Thanks for your reply. The start of your rigging is very good, and I really mean that.. You have really enjoyed this build as I can tell. But as far as I am concerned the fun has now started. I I love doing the rigging as you know. I am not enjoying this build at all. It could be something to do with the victory being finished. And the total difference between the two ships. I don't really know. But only 5min ago I sent off an order to CMB for the HMS DIANA and will build them side by side. I am doing a GLENN, and will be a happy bunny again. Wish me luck. Clove hitches, reef knots snagged lines etc you are lucky. Keep enjoying it Jerry. Regards .DAVID.

Greetings Jerry Well it certainly looks good. And also a cracking set of photos showing some really good work. Well done Jerry , enjoy the rest of the rigging. I am kit bashing at the minute....regards DAVID

Greetings glenn Looks like you are having no probs threading the eyelets and fitting the lids. I don't know if the port side has its lids fitted, if not It could be an idea to fit the lids row by row. Starting with with the upmost, as you can possibly break the lower ones off when fitting the threads on the ones above if you follow. Well done Glenn keep enjoying it. DAVID

Greetings Jerry Well done so far and now to the really enjoyable part of the build, the rigging. To be honest I loved it on the Victory. Prob telling you the road you know, but is it worthwhile fitting any of the rigging coils ,loops, or whatever they call them onto the belaying pins before you get to far into the rigging. Which as you know will help you avoid snagging and damage to the rigging later. Just keep enjoying it.DAVID

Greetings Gary You thinks it looks good???? ?.....it's far better than good , it's excellent. You have reached a point in your build which I really enjoyed with all the deck work visible, and I am sure you will also enjoy the work ahead of you. Cracking build.... DAVID.

Greeting Jerry Well things are still going well for you. And well done so far . Just a thought , if you are putting eggs in the nests just paint some cannonballs white. DAVID

Greetings all Well a little more progress. First rubbing strake painted and fitted, just need to sort the visible holes. Spent a while measuring and masking the hull, I found I had some unopened French blue from my victory build, so I reckon that's good enough for me. I reckon things should start moving along now. Thanks for viewing and your comments. OK photos of progress....DAVID
-
Greetings Chris Well you have really moved on since my last visit. Your build is going like a dream, and you are without doubt really enjoying it. Having looked through your log you will never be lost for advice should you need it, as it appears most of the seats are full . Just keep enjoying it... DAVID

Greetings all Hello jerry and how are you. You are really buzzing along still on your half moon, and into the masts!!!! Well done. Ok I have have not posted because I didn't think there was anything worth posting. Right here's a quick update. Nothing to technical. I have fitted the top rubbing strake in position to see if things will look ok once the brass stuff is fitted, and it looks ok to me. I reckon the distance from the underside of the parapet rail to the top of the rubbing strake at the 4 gunports will be about 27mm and the rest of the strake takes care of itself. Well that's my theory. The gunports and other apertures are lined and few windows have been made. Yep I think it will be ok, here's a few photos to show my progress, and I reckon I should now be posting more often now. One never knows. Here we go...thanks a lot. DAVID

Greetings Well here we go with another victory build, one of many. you will never be short of help or advice whenever you should need it, as there are a few excellent billing builds going on including Boyd's ( shihawk ). Good luck with your build, and the usual best advice, just take your time and enjoy your build...regards DAVID

Hello Glenn Looks like you are enjoying these two builds, and at this pace will finish the peg before the victory, and possibly before the chap with he's half moon!!. I was wondering how you have found the quality of the Pegasus kit in comparisons to the jotika victory kit. I had only had a quick look through the box but thought the wood strip was a lot better, and also the Pegasus plans were far less cumbersome than the jotika. Any way back to your victory tomorrow, and the lids and channels. Keep up the good work. DAVID

Hello Robert Yes Glenn's correct, some builders opted to split the deck. There is also the option of opening up the slots and narrowing the width of the deck by trimming the edges which I did, as all the deck is covered by planking plus the inner bulwarks and trim, so you can obtain lots of clearance, regards DAVID

Greetings Glenn Lots to do as you say, so you should not get bored with the gun port lids. The lids themselves are very time consuming, two lots of painting , eyelets and hinges to fit, so it gets menotamus, but it's easy to take a break and do work on the the chains or channels. Then you are closing in on the sticks and loads of enjoyment, and loads of knots!!!!!!! Bet you can't wait. Keep enjoying it....DAVID
