  1. Greetings Heinz Got to agree with Jerry and Jparsley, Your work continues to be outstanding, and is reflected in the quality of the work on the gallerys. Is there a decision to be made on whether or not to copper plate the hull ?. Yes is going like a dream. Keep enjoying it Heinz....DAVID
  2. Greetings Ian Well here we go with another caldercraft victory, and a couple of years of real enjoyment for yourself. As you well know you will never be short of advice should you need it during your build. Just take your time and enjoy yourself .. Regards DAVID.
  3. Greetings Dominic Well you are really buzzing along, and all is looking very good. It might be an idea not to fit the facias to the quarter gallery's yet, but leave them until later to save any possible damage during your build. Check out page2 of Gil middletons log. Well done Dominic, keep enjoying it. DAVID
  4. Hello Dominic CMB sell them. They come under columns. Brass ones come under number 12 - 32 and probably elsewhere in the list as there is a large amount listed. GREECE also have loads. DAVID
  5. Wonderful work. Yep the rigging phase is without doubt the most enjoyable. Cracking bowsprit photo. Well done. DAVID
  6. Greetings Heinz Excellent progress. The work on the stern is very impressive, as has your work been throughout your build. Just keep enjoying it Heinz . DAVID
  7. Greetings Philip Having a look around the victory logs. Well done so far. No need for fingered crossed, there's nothing wrong with the planking. Once it's all sanded smooth you will be more than pleased. Keep up the good work, and simply enjoy it DAVID
  8. Greetings Dominic Good that you getting on with the first planking. Yep I found the lime was easy to work with, and made the first planking pretty easy. I only used a strip bender and like Jerry very rarely wet any strips. The lime strip also makes the sanding pretty easy. Keep enjoying it Dominic. DAVID
  9. Greetings young man Hope you are well and enjoyed your last cruise. I have not done any work for the last month but will return soon. Need to see cardiologist, heart needs checking out. Heart rate has been erratic for he last 4month or so. It started off about two year ago but was sorted or so I thought. It starts to race now and then simply reverts to normal. It's was doing 140 a minute all Sunday evening, so I went off to see the doc this morning. Have you decided on a new build yet?? I am following a chap called Dominic (building the Vic) at the minute, and trying to help him fit he's gunport patterns. PMs popping back and forth. I enjoying this very much. Son just came home today for a week. He's had three weeks in Australia and a week in Singapore, he's a teacher in London. Anyway I shall return soon all being well, and I also need to have a look at Lawrence's log which as I said earlier is now into volume 4 and available on Amazon. Take care Jerry. DAVID

  13. Greetings Dominic And here we go with another caldercraft Victory. Just enjoy yourself for a couple of years Dominic. Might be an idea to fit two sleeves in the keel for mounting the ship even if you don't use them . See my Diana build. I shall follow along with interest. Regards David
  14. Greetings Kevin I need to make a start on finishing the deck planking after a few weeks off. Your masts are really looking good, and the rigging stage was the most enjoyable stage of the build for me. Just enjoy it. Just follow along. Regards DAVID
  15. Greetings Heinz Excellent work throughout your build, and lots more fun ahead Heinz. You are producing something special. Regards DAVID
  16. Greetings I missed it !!!!! Wonderful build, and a first build at that. Maybe a Victory next ??? Why not, you will have no problems at all. Well done, and I look forward to your next build. DAVID
  17. Greetings Kevin And welcome back to the most enjoyable phase of the build. Prob telling you the road you know. I would belay rope coils around the masts and other areas before you start any of your rigging to make things easier at the latter stages. The gun deck also needs a few belaying. Good luck and really enjoy yourself..DAVID
  18. Hello Rich Well done, things are going well. The part for the gunport lids are 491 lower gun deck gunport scuttle hinges. When you come to fit your gunport lids check out their configuration before you add the hinges. The lids are wider than deep. You will see what I mean if you measure them on page42. DAVID
  19. Hello Robert Well done. The work on the cannon rigging is wonderful, and the deck itself really stands out with the cannons in place. I surmise you are going to add the block and tackles later. The excellent standard continues, keep enjoying it ....DAVID
  20. Hello Peter Yep I reckon Glen will be correct in telling you to phone them. It should be no problem for you. Give them a call. DAVID
  21. Greetings Doris Stunning , amazing build. I think we have used all the accolades available to describe your build . Your build is something special Doris . Well done....DAVID
  22. Greetings all Well I have completed the butt planking ( I think that's they call it) on the port side, which will be all that is visible once the top deck is fitted. I was left with an infill of 12mm. I used 3 widths of 4mm strip which was adequate once the rough edge was sanded off each strip. I shall now complete the port side planking and then turn to the starboard side. Mort I only used a rule to make those planks. I simply followed Rays technique, but had quite a few rejects. Well I am happy with my progress, and thanks to you all for your comments and for viewing. Well done Mark and Mick explaining the guillotine was used in the printing trade. Here's a few photos. Thanks a lot DAVID
