Greetings Max Well this is looking really smart, and you are making excellent progress. I have started my build of the RC and reached the planking stage, so will start my log soon. Greetings derek And about time!!!!! Well it's looking good and you are well on with the rigging. I would suggest you get a lazy Susan unless you have one?? Greetings Glenn Well this restoration is a joy to watch, and it's a shame that there are no photos of the completed searchlights which are amazing, but I am sure we will see them later. You can walk into the work shop and see , well , what looks like a piece of old junk in the chuck of the lathe, and you wonder what is that going to be ?? Yep this restoration is something special. Keep up posting loads of photos glenn. Cracking stuff. DAVID

Hello peter You could use adhesive copper tape, others have used it and will give you advice. The coppering??? Some copper up from the keel and other down from the water line. My preference is coppering down. I would however run a few rows of plates up from the keel and overlap them slightly with the plates coming down , this will make the coppering under the lower area easier, but that is only my preference. Keep enjoying it and take your time. DAVID

Greetings David Well done , it's going really well. I note your discussions about the caulking of the planks. Using a pencil, black cotton , etc. Cotton can look to much in your face if you follow, and it can be a problem when sanding the deck. You can try just laying the planks up against each other, but not tight, and you will get the effect which you can see on the photo with no caulking at all. Good luck with your build. DAVID

Hello rich Yep, I think they look far better when they are dull. I polished mine with brasso and varnished them, but they have still dulled off , and look all the better for it. DAVID

Greetings Glenn It's looking really good.. Well done with the final hull planking, it's excellent. And when you get the capping fitted you will see how much it really sets things off. I take it you will be fitting the beak head bulkhead after you add all the fittings. A good weeks work glenn, but surely you don't need to spoil it tomorrow, do you really need to go ?? DAVID

Hello Philippe This Is the first time I have ever made masts so I just followed the instruction book, and built one mast at a time. The bowsprit first and then the foremast. I have noted others have built all three lower masts first. I suppose the expert model ship builders may make and assemble their masts in various sequences, depending on certain factors. Maybe someone could enlighten us. DAVID

Greetings all Well I expected to have my victory encased in a few days time, and have tidied the ship up, and touched up the paintwork. At the moment I am painting the oars and anchors for the two small boats which fit on the davits. The two final replacement acrylic sheets for my case appear to have been lost in transit . I got a call today to tell me they had been dispatched last Wednesday, and I should have received them the next day, but TNT appear to of lost them. I have been told it will be sorted tomorrow, and I will be sent two more sheets. I expect to start the royal caroline in a few weeks time, and I have just had a keel clamp made. I have just noticed that the horizontal bar may need lengthened . See what think of it. Thanks for your comments and for viewing. DAVID

Greetings rich Well done. It's coming on fine. Yep I totally agree with Kevin's advice. I would build a few rows down of five or so wide and then build them around to the bow and stern. You can make fine adjustments as you go, as you are laying a wide band of tiles if you follow, and you can better control the run of your tiles. Yep your doing fine.......DAVID

Greetings Keith Yep the castings look excellentl , and your build has been outstanding from the very beginning.
