  1. Greetings Jerry Well your are making short work of this phase, and once again as good as ever.. Looks like you had no problem at all with the main rail. I had A bit of a bad time on this area....... The less haste thing ! Keep up the good work. You will be up back to the poop soon. DAVID
  2. Greetings derek Hope all is well. Yes it's the bowsprit next, but need to a tidy up job first . The hammock cranes have been bashed about and some bits of touching up is needed. I should be done on the ratlines by Saturday, and will have a look to see what's what on the bowsprit . Thanks a lot . Catch you later. DAVID

  5. Greeting lawrence Hope your holiday is going really well. Thanks for your comments. Alas once again my build has stopped for a few days, as new carpets are being fitted in the bedrooms. Sadly the shipyard has only inherited the best of what is been taken up, as all I deserve is a clippy mat like my grandmother used to make. I should finish the mizzen mast ratlines by Friday , and then onto the bowsprit , which should be fun, I hope!!! Thanks once again, and don't you bring any furniture back with you. Regards DAVID
  6. Greetings everybody First of all thanks to you all for viewing and all of your comments which are appreciated. Well I have returned with the main mast completed only needing a touch of painting. So now it's onto the mizzen which should not take to long, and then the bowsprit. The rigging on the bowsprit looks a bit of a challenge and is all new to me, so I am really looking forward to reaching that phase. I am pretty happy with the way things are going, and I shall leave you all now to start on the mizzen.......here's a few of those much of a muchness photos... Thanks once again. DAVID
  7. Greetings jerry A lot of excellent work. Looks like you have had a very productive weekend. You are really buzzing along . Yep Lawrence is correct. Those small blocks look good and as you know are very tedious ... Well done Jerry ... DAVID
  8. Welcome Rosemarie Well it all looks smart, and those buckets were a nightmare for me , and yours look very smart and a lot more even than my own. Good luck with the stairs and cannons. Yes there a few more returning after a decent summer over here. Well done .. Regards David
  9. Greetings Well here we go with another victory build!! And the kit packaging itself looks really good. I look forward to following your build throughout its progress. Just enjoy yourself. Best wishes DAVID
  10. Welcome Vasileios And another Victory log to follow. Good luck with your build and just enjoy it DAVID
  11. Hello john Do you mean part numbers 547 & 548. I am fitting 547 now and added a photo for illustration. 547 hooks into the futtock strop and the thread is tied off at the futtock stave to create the shroud. Read page 13 of rigging manual. For details of part 548 read page 15 onward to find areas for it's fitting. Hope this helps. Click on the pic to enlarge it for a better view. DAVID
  12. Hello yon Thanks a lot, and welcome back. Hope you have had a cracking summer. I look forward to you posting. Regards DAVID

  14. Greetings all Thanks to you all for your viewing and all your comments. Well at last I can say goodbye to the foremast for a while. There are approximately 1,060 clove hitches and my spacings should have been closer, so in theory there should be more. I now intend to start the ratlines on the main mast and there are quite a few more knots than on the fore masts. So these are the last few photos of the foremast... Much of a muchness again. Ok away I go , tweezers, thread and music in the background. So I will catch you all again when I get the lower ratlines on the main mast done.........have a nice Xmas everybody. Thanks a lot DAVID
  15. Hello derek You could be the first person to sail a model ship up the channel and come out in the wash !!!!!!!!!! Well well done with the ratlines so far. You are a bit ahead of me . I have finished the foremast and start the main mast tonight, I have tied 1060 knots on the foremast gave or take , and my spacings are not as narrow as they should, so there should be more. Anyway well done again DAVID
  16. Greetings all Thanks a lot for all your comments. Well this rigging lark is going to take a long time, in fact a very long time. I have been working on the foremast only since my last visit, and intend to complete all the ratlines before moving on to the main mast. The port side ratlines are finished , and I will finish the starboard ratlines by Saturday. Like I said this is going to be a long job and will take a good month or more to complete all three. Anyway I am pretty happy with my progress, so here's a few photos for you. I am of to do some clove hitches.,DAVID
  17. Greetings Jerry Well this build is moving along at some pace !!!! and still as good as ever. But Jerry I think you may have been Sussed out. I reckon you have a team of builders helping you. Come clean Jerry!!!! Keep up the good work.......DAVID. Nearly 800 bloody clove hitches and still on the foremast!!!!!
  18. Hello nick Cracking stuff. Your build is certainly move along and looks really good. Every thing is so neat and tidy. Keep up the good work and enjoy you build. DSVID
  19. Well Jerry This is looking something special now. The last three photos are excellent. I surmise you are working your way from the bow to the stern and the belfry assy next. If so a few of the small parts go with the grain and across the grain and will split easily, a coat of ca might help....DAVID
  20. Greetings Well done. The decking looks really good, all spick and span. Your build seems to have taken very little time to get to this stage. Excellent stuff Jerry......... I am doing the ratlines, my shoulders are aching, I have a slight headache and keep having to stop for a while........ It's clove hitch after clove hitch after clove hitch after bloody clove hitch !!!!!!! Jerry it's monotonous . I will be dreaming of clove hitches. It looks like about 600 on the main and 600 on the main I don't know about the mizzen, maybe 400 or a few more. I have done 330 so I am getting there...... Were ever there is!!!. I have got my next build sorted........ A Raft!!!!! .... Keep enjoying your build Jerry ....... And it's no good laughing!!!! You have all this to come!!!! They told me this would be fun. And I believed them . DAVID
  21. Good morning young man!!! So another year floats by. Belated birthday wishes. You are lucky to have birthdays, my certificate thing reads..MADE IN ENGLAND.. I just deteriorate and get more rusty as the years go by. My medication is WD40 . Enjoy your build DAVID
  22. Greetings all Well here we go again. The first part of my rigging phase. All the lower shrouds are fitted after a disastrous start. I had to chop all twenty two of the fore mast shrouds off after they got tangled up. I could not be chewed to untangle them, so I just ordered new dead eyes and needed some 1.3mm thread as there is very little surplus . I did not know about using bees wax until I spotted it on utube, and it makes things a lot easier. So the lower shrouds are done and the futtock staves are fitted plus the futtock shrouds on the port side. This is a pretty awkward job as you have to tie eleven shrouds to the stave, and then the catcher-pins to the same stave, and finally the six futtock shrouds making twenty one fixings to the stave. I found it impossible to do a decent job on these. Just a point, jotika tell you there are six catherpins on both the foremast and main mast. Longbridges anatomy of nelsons ships tells you there are four on each (page 230). So I only fitted four. While I was waiting for my order from CMB I made up the four davits for the port and starboard. I just used styrene for the treads to simplify things. The davits are seventeen feet long which at 1/72 scale is 72mm. There is a drawing of them in the rigging manual which shows them longer, so if my Maths are wrong or for some reason they need to be longer it will be easy to sort. Anyway that's my lot for now. I am off to finish the foremast. I will get the top mast shrouds fitted and complete the ratlines. So as I said, that's my lot for now. Catch you all at the main mast. Thanks a lot everyone. Here's some photos DAVID
  23. Derek Cracking stuff derek. it's all becoming a bit tricky now, tying hundreds of knots. But it's very relaxing . Well I also had to do a bit of tearing off. All 22 of my foremast shrouds were chopped of and renewed after they got tangled. I could not be chewed to sort them, so just ordered some new ones along side other stuff. I will be starting the ratlines tonight. Good luck with the rest of your shrouds, then futtock staves. DAVID
  24. Greetings Jerry Re the snatch blocks. I think I sent you a photo of the snatch blocks a while back. Dave's right the snatch blocks are open topped. See plan sheet 5. Here is a photo of mine. The second photo is jotikas own build, and as you can see it has no snatch blocks at all !!!! Regards DAVID
  25. Patrick I would build the sweep on as far back as possible until no sweep exists, from both the stern and bow. Then in theory the infill in the central area will be be narrower, if you follow. And you will be building up over with very very small adjustment as you go, once again if you follow. The theory seems ok. DAVID
