HMS Agamemnon 1781 by Hennie - FINISHED - Caldercraft - Scale 1:64

Recommended Posts

@Sjors

I know you only give comment and pls keep doing that in the future ;) ;) ;)

I saw that the Stays of the main mast and the stays of the fore mast have two seizes. 2.0 and 2.5mm. I think 2.5 is a bit overdone. When I visited you and Anja in Bleiswijk, I saw you used the 2.5mm rope to fix the Closed Heart blocks of the main stay to the bowsprit and you used the 2mm  rope for the stays and that looked really nice! I decided I wil use the 2mm for the main and fore mast stay and the 1.5mm rope for the main preventor and the fore mast preventor stay.

I already ordered some 1.5mm rope at Morope. Got a mail back he is on a vacation to Sweden and he will send me the rope within 2 weeks :( . So when I finished the shrouds and the main stay, I will have to do something else. Well, I will start to do some ratlines of the mizzen mast and main mast... :) :)

So no chance to get bored :D :D

Looking very sharp. Those sails look like Swiss cheese. Great painting. And great work on your build. Can almost see the light at the end.

@W.Joe @Scott @Elijah

Thx for your nice words.

About the painting: of course its a reproduction. Cant afford the real one :D :D :D Dont know the artist but whats more important, the ship on the right is the HMS Agamemnon fighting against a French ship. I recognized the soldiers on the stern :) :)

At last, after 6 weeks an update....

I did some roping on the main mast. I am really satisfied how the snake looks (my first time). I have decided that I will use black rope for the ratlines. Ratlines of natural rope are almost invisible against a white wall. And they say you have to blacken the ratlines with Indian Ink! The only reason they advice using natural rope is that black rope is a lot stiffer. Well, I use black rope (0.25mm) of Morope and this rope isn't stiffer as I found out.

Some pictures...

Most beautiful work. I love the seizing around the hearts in your last photo. That crows feet rigging sure has come up great.

Extra clean hands as not to strain or dirty that white rigging line I bet. Excellent job.

She is looking very nice! How do you prepare your blocks? That meaning how do you get the hooks on them, strop them, and attach them to a point?

@Elijha,

Thx Elijha, about your questions: look at page 1, #18: enlarge the pictures of the guns and you have your answer (if this is what you mean).

@Mirabell61

Thx, you are very kind. I really love doing the rigging of this ship.

Next thing to do is fixing the futtock staves....    And my Christmastree and all the Christmasdecrations in my front- and backyard.... So I will be quit busy the next 2-3 weeks :D :D :D

Hi all!

First of all: a very Merry Christmas to you all!!

Second: thx for all the likes and nice commends.

Finally a small update. Because of some circumstances I didn't have much time to work on my Aggy. Still futtock staves and caterpins done.

I also started with the ratlines which will take some weeks.

Some pictures....
