that wasn't a good Rum

No, I don't have a good alcohol-soluble dye. ;)
Its Van Dyck Crystals - made from walnut husks and can be tweaked for a nice range of browns.

These are of my making. The kit’s cloth was printed with a similar process as the deck veneer. It was missing in some areas and blotchy in others. I can send you my original if you feel you are missing the full experience. :)

sails look great! I’ll have to go back and try to replicate how you did it

Thanks for the kind words. My approach is simple and is covered in post #99. If your curious, I’ll post the water-based varnish I used.

The tiny pictures are my secret to hiding flaws. ;)  Joking aside, even I’m surprised by how nice the model looks. I wasn’t expecting it.  I viewed this solely as an apprentice/journeyman project to build skills only. :) Who knew!?!

Thanks again for the kind words!!

Great job very impressive. Makes me want to restart my The President and put my Brig of 1812 ship in a bottle to the side. Again Great Job.

I look forward to it...  (but I can wait; no pressure from me!)

Are you eying the next thing on the horizon or taking a breathe?

I think I'm going to take the plunge and do a Model Shipways POB model. I'm open to suggestions!!!

The next big jumps are: 1) planking a hull, and 2) working on a bigger (more daunting) project. I like to think if I get over those humps, I can declare myself to a middling ship modeller!! :)

The way you made the seams was very effective.

They easy and quick - take some scraps and play with it. This build log and others have the details, but the short answer is coat the fabric in water-souble varnish and then score the fabric (with an awl, a nail, the tip of a scissor). If you get to it, let me know how it goes!!!
