Hi all here is the next WIP

I decided to give it opening gull wing doors so that was my first task.

Denis, it's a mid 60's Vette. 77 was Mako shark. I flew with a guy who had one of those Stingrays. Nice!

had a customer at the garage that had one......fiberglass body.    he was forever having the fenders repaired.......would crack by the headlights from vibration and stress

Can I ask, how did you add the shading to the door lines and similar areas?  I just put the base coat on my first car model last night and would like to add depth to some areas.  Unlike planes though, where the shading doesn’t need sharp lines, seems that it’s a bit trickier for cars (especially if you aren’t planning to weather them).

Masking tape and adding a very small amount of black to whatever colour you're using (I use a pipette and add 2 to 3 drops to my airbrush reservoir then just blend upto the masking tape, heavier towards the edge of the masking tape) (I give the area around the masking tape a spray with the base colour first to prevent bleeding) if I'm doing black I add a few drops of blue to the paint and do the opposite I spray from furthest from the masking tape up to it.

Do you do the shading first, and then spray the base color over to blend it?  Or do you base coat first, and then add the shading?  Sorry, having a little trouble figuring out the best order.  Since I already applied the base coat (via rattle can), just trying to figure out if there is a way I can add a little depth at this stage.  I might try carefully adding a wash to the edges (I have a bunch of the Vallejo washes that might be ok).

Base coat first then shade (I dont do armour or planes much but they seem to do the opposite) dont know if it would make a difference I just do what works for me.

Thank you!  It's been interesting learning about the different techniques across various model subjects.  Cars, planes, ships, armor all have different techniques, finishes, areas of focus, etc.  I don't have an artistic background at all so this has been fascinating.  I think some of these techniques can carry over to wooden ship building.  I've been "painting with wood" as I think paint generally makes the ship model seem "plastic" - or at least plastic parts next to the bare wood parts - but some of these painting and shading techniques could be used to great effect on wooden builds that are painted.

Pastels are great at turning plastic into wood, I think I posted a tutorial on my Soleil build as I had so many people asking how I did it.
