Nenad,

First off, congrats on your children's graduations! I suspect that's a big relief to have them start their careers.

Second, I've never played AoE. I used to have Age of Sail on our old computer, and that was a lot of fun. Nowdays, I just fly and crash airplanes (MS-FSX).

BTW, plating is monotonous, but you're making good progress and it looks good!

Thanks,

Harvey

Thx Harvey

My favorite games are/were : AoE, Descent, Tom Rider I-V, F-16/M-29, and Call of Duty I,II,III multy-player on NET

After that my own computer can not run modern games ( 8 years old, but good enough for business to run in same time ESET, MSWord, OutlookExpress, Thunderbird, MSAccess, MSExel, Chrome, Skype, Adobe acrobat, Winfax, etc etc without freezing my PC), and it was more important to renew Admirals and Children computers and to bye laptop than to renew my own PC), so there was online chess on cellphone, crossed with paper Sudoku before starting work on Her Majesty

We all enjoy in playing, are we ?

I was little overfull/overload/overcharged by plates, and little rest I needed evoking memories and forming a index/content of log, and today I`ll continue with plates. Tomorrow one day trip to Novi Sad ( 80 km from Belgrade - not to EXIT festival which is currently running) with Hothead about continuation of his bachelor/master study there. It is opportunity to visit great fortress of Petrovaradin, but festival runs there, and a crowd ....

Yesterday the drawer behind Him was opened, and He was inside ?!?!?!? Today, near the drawer

Back to plates, plates, plates

I was analyzing this photo

post-4738-0-21046100-1405361881_thumb.jpg
First eight lines of plates from waterline to keel are without gore strakes "lawns" (?). Only between the eighth and ninth row gore strakes lawns start ( red arrows). So, even I step away from regular coopering procedure, when curvature starts, I decide to try to "push" gore strakes lawns as down under waterline as much as it is possible, to the place where them are not visible when model comes from down to up. On the same edge of bow toward stern, you can see almost parallel rows of plates, without visible gore strakes  "lawns" near edge, and I decided to try to make this
Did I succeed ? I think - yes

Not sure what you mean by "lawns", but coppering is looking good!

My English ... "lawn" ... I mean GORE STRAKE ... sorry, I hope my last post now has some meaning ... :)

Today in Novi Sad town with Hothead, and we visited old fortress of Petrovaradin, Novi Sad is main city if Vojvodina province, famous by his history and EXIT festival which just has finished  (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exit_festival)

post-4738-0-28920100-1405445557_thumb.jpg

Little history of fortress ( from Wiki)

The first larger fortifications were created with the arrival of the Romans who built the fortress. The fortress was strengthened due to the threat of Turkish invasion, but felt after a two-week siege in 1526. The Austrian Army captured it again after 150 years of Turkish control during the Great Turkish War in 1687, and began to tear down the old fortress and build new fortifications according to contemporary standards.

In 1692, the Hofkriegsrath ordered engineers to Petrovaradin to investigate the area in order to build a new fortress. Count Keysersfeld received both financial and personnel support. On September 9, 1694, the Grand Vizier Sürmeli Ali Paşa arrived at Petrovaradin Fortress from Belgrade. A siege of 23 days was laid on, however poor weather conditions in October forced the Turkish forces to retreat towards Belgrade with their task left unfinished.

New plans were developed in 1751 and major works began in 1753 and lasted until 1776. After the completion of the Petrovaradin Fortress, there was never any further threat from Turkish forces, and fortress is pretty preserved and in good shape

And some photos

Almost 20 km of underground defense structure in several levels, ready for 10.000 soldiers, 500 guns and 6000 citizens. Amazing facts. Only 2 km opened for public ... Real touristic treasure sleeping in darkness !!?!?

Same situation with Kalemegdan fortress in Belgrade

Thx Bob, I am asking myself same question from time to time. It seems that trick is in production material and method which allow to "rivet" one side of several pieces in one single pass, so during 2 hours of drawing, riveting and cutting, you can make 500-700 ready plates. in next stage, you dont need more than 30 sec to put glue with brush on hull, uncover protective foil from plate, and put plate on place. Sure, after first 1000 you get some routine, and whole process is faster

Yes, I believe I could cut my plates quicker;  but I was unable to develop a method of riveting them in multiple quantities, so each plate was riveted individually..

I'll look into your technique the next time I need to copper...  (My other current build, the Niagara, has no copper)

Thx Mark, I am also satisfied how it goes.

Color is almost there, reflections are present, basic coopering structure is caught and kept, rivets visible, plates almost in scale with rivets present ...

Considering circumstances that riveting in exact and real scale is impossible ( 0,03-0,02 mm per rivet) and I wanted rivets to be presented, I think I hit right proportion of plates, rivets, lines to match to my artistic idea.

Of course, when I finish second side, there will be light dark green transparent layer of acrylic, and mat transparent acrylic warnish. Idea is to try to simulate present color on CS with present but semi-kiled reflections

Wish me luck in this

Denis, I think you are always here somewhere peek over my shoulder and looking into my head. As always, it seems you again read my mind. This evening, doing boring, not so much creative job ( plates plates plates), hanging my head with one and all and listening some radio drama, I suddenly became aware that I must do stern ornaments BEFORE final rotation of Her Majesty. Later this could be almost impossible.

So, another thing to bang my head - how, to hell, to do this, to meet my expectations and my vision how this must look. I have some ideas ( tinny rope, tinny wire ...) particularly seeing Doris log with masterpieces done with modeler Clay. Many tests has to be made, also many experiments, many logs on MSW to visit and study, considering very tricky curved surface on stern. And I want this to look as much as possible as on real ship .....

Hmmmmm

Today progress  (until Princess call me to eat pancakes she made)

No progress today ... some bad news about one my client/friend let me down, spiced with complex new Labor Law which I had to study and learn very fast (one of main fields of my work). But life must go on, and now at 22:00 I can finally think about future scroll saw works ... one eye to phenomenal Billy Crystal one man show on TV ... He is really something !
