Can I introduce my next build from my old stash  I told you about  - I will build her more or less  straight out of the box, but I will try to do some extra detailing if I can  - the inner cabin lends itself and frankly cries out to be super detailed.

Buckle in for this one - as it might take some building  it looks big in the box - so it will take some skill to bring it to life.

I'm right here looking overt your shoulder as always, (Well possibly not in Waterloo).

The S***hooks were certainly big although probably not much louder than a Huey and we flew with them quite often. I even flew in them a couple of times. Quite a bit different than in a Huey. More like like a flying sardine can kind of feeling  with a much more limited view somehow. It is obvious that they are a good ship though as they are still almost everywhere in the world, still being built and getting the job done. Quite an achievement in the world of combat aircraft.

Yeah and the crews used to call the missions they flew Waka-waka missions....

If I remember correctly, the outside nickname, (US Military crew for those out in the public media world) was "Hook", that is a contraction of the internal private military nickname "SH**HOOK" (which was used when there wasn't anyone with tender ears around)

That is if what I was told by an old 'nam vet was correct......

Even us AF types called 'em that. The Hook seems to be the Herky of the helo world.

Oh, boy, good old red troop seats. Red nylon webbing stretched between 3 aluminum poles into a chair shape. And then lap belts to strap in with. In the Stratobladder (KC-135) in passenger hauling mode, we scrounged airliner seats for the self loading baggage from old airliners parked out in the Boneyard in Tucson, AZ. This passenger role was not one the old Strategic Air Command boss, Curtis LeMay wanted to do, so all the 135s came with plywood floors. When SAC disappeared in 1991 and the 135s went into Air Mobility Command, that leadership went ballistic when they found out that the 400 or so a/c they inherited could not haul cargo due to the light flooring. They eventually had clip on roller tracks for about 25% of the 135s.

I personally think that most troops, myself included, preferred just sitting on the deck than trying to find a comfortable position in the jump seats!

I never realized that the KC-135 had any other role except gas station. Learn something new everyday.

Lou, there weren't enough Herks, Starlifters and C-17s to haul all the troops & equipment needing hauling. Uncle Sugar couldn't  hire contract airliners, too pricey. So, the KC-135 and KC-10 hauled some missions.  Most units liked us hauling them, since we flew twice as fast as the Herks. Yeah, those red seats left a lot to be desired. Mine had way better padding, too. More like your easy chair. And it swiveled, too.

To be honest, I was never a fan (as such) of the CH-46 or the CH-47.    The -46's had a problem early on with the aft rotor assembly/transmission falling off inflight.   The early -47 had an issue with "timing" but this was very early on during development where the shaft going to the forward rotor "twisted".    I flew in  CH-34's (loved that Wright Radial sound) and the -53.    Just me on the dual rotor birds..... but I'll still follow along.

It is kind of funny really.

Each helicopter has it's own unique sound. I would be surprised if a person could tell the difference between a Spitfire and a Mustang, not so with anyone who has spent time in choppers. I was out camping in the mountains last month and a Huey came over. LONG before it could see it through the trees i just knew it had to be a Huey, and it was. That is after 50 years! It came back a few hours later and again was unmistakable. A Cobra is almost just a Huey on a diet, using almost all of the same moving parts, and even it sounds slightly different.

Hi all,  right straight in   - The kit starts with the inside cabin/cockpit bulkhead, this has shelf with different items on it  - and the other side of the  cockpit entrance  is  some pipework and wiring,  basis steps of primer - paint layers - details - shading  then  highlighting.

Its a start  not looking too bad.
