San Ildefonso by Sjors - FINISHED - OcCre - 1:70

Sjors, I love it, especially the contrast with the black paint, but have no idea if that is historically accurate.

John

Thanks John,

I also don't know if it is historically accurate but I like it also.

I think someone else will give us the answer.

We wait.

Hello Sjors,

How important is it for you to build 100% historically correct?

In my opinion the wire (brass?) looks very fine.

Have you tried already a golden acrylic paint, together with Tamiya-tape you can have good results either.

Cheers,
Wim

Sjors, the wire looks pretty good with the arrangement you've got there. Are you going to leave it with the brass finish or do you plan on painting it?

Thanks,

Patrick

Hi Wim and Patrick,

@ Wim,

For me personally it don't have to historically  correct.

I just want a nice looking build.

I have try is with tape but there are to many curves in it to get it right.

@Patrick,

I'll keep it this way.

I just like it without paint.

Thanks for your opinion.

It's gonna be this way.

Pics later when it is finished.

If you want to make this decor better, cut out slips from an interline interval (better from a pear). By the way, historically it too will be more reliable, by the real ships of that time the decor was wooden.

And one more question: how you are going to glue this decor on the varnished surface?

Best regards,

Garward

Adrieke and Augie, Thanks guys.

@ Garward,

I glued it all ready and my skills are not that good that I can turn wood with all those curves  :(

I know that it is not historically right but I like how it turned out.

I've seen it on your Montañes and that looks also great.

I used a 2 component glue.

this glue is so strong ….. When you glue a feather to a cannonball, you can trow the cannonball away while you are holding the feather…..

Unbelievable stuff.

It glues everything on everything, but I only use it for metal to wood.

Thanks for all the advice you gave me and hopefully will give me in the future.

Thank you, it's most appreciated!

Sjors,

The wire looks great on the head timbers.  Just the right amount of gilding.  :)
