Mark,

Excellent work. Your rigging details are so nice. Your ship is really coming along. Nice update.

Many thanks to all for your nice comments. The dreaded ratlines will be started soon.I think the rigging really makes the ship start to come alive. :)

Nice going Mark. Rigging is my favorite part of building a ship. Well... also  planking a hull... and decks.... Things that I hate: whatever that comes out bad :)

Good job, or should I say outstanding job on you Vasa. It's really coming to life.

There aren't but two options: do it FAST, or do it RIGHT.

Thanks again everyone.Watching all your builds progress has has raised the bar for my build. :D By the way I am using the Corel rig plans as the Sergal rig plans are awful. The Corel plans seem fairly close. If they are not totally accurate thats ok as neither is the rest of my build.

Hi Mark,

I think I am going to follow you. I am beginning with the rigging and the only blueprint that came with this BB kit is everything but clear.  Where do you get the Corel plans?

Karl and Mark. While rigging my Vasa I started following the Corel instructions AND the book "THE RIGGING OF SHIPS IN THE DAYS OF THE SPRITSAIL TOPMAST, 1600-1720" by R.C. Anderson.

I finally quit trying to follow both sources as it proved really confusing. Maybe if you are just starting can use that book as your rigging source. Seems to be very accurate, complete and is of just the right period.

Karl - I have the Corel plans because I have the Corel Wasa kit.I don`t know if the plans are available separate. The book mentioned by Ulises may be the way to go.

Ulises - is the book available on Amazon or somewhere else?

Another update - been slowly working on the shrouds & stays.Topmast shrouds & mizzen stays done.I know the rigging is a bit dark but I prefer the look of the dark standing rigging. The running rigging will be much lighter.

Hola Mark

I know that your kit is different from mine but I would like to know how are the ropes of the higher spars of the Main mast are fixed to deck because I found two versions in the instructions of my kit, one in the Manual and the other in the Plan (nothing new) as you can see in the picture.

The same case applies to the foremast

Hello Karl

The picture in the manual appear to be correct to me.There are some good pictures of Clayton`s scratch built Vasa on the Vasa modelling forum which show most of the rigging.

Hola Mark,

thank you for your observation.  I tried to find the Clayton´s in Vasa modelling forum and besides there are many web pages with that information apparently  I didn´t find the good one, can you please be more specific?

Karl - I will add the link to the site.

http://warshipvasa.freeforums.net/

When you get to the site go to the topic titled "Vasa modelling" & scroll down to a topic titled "1/50 scale scratch built Vasa rig process". My plans are incorrect also so I have been looking at his for some direction.Hope this helps. There are lots of very good Vasa modelers there.

Thanks Michael.I probably should have used lighter colored rope as Fred at the Vasa museum indicated they were only lightly tarred.I didn`t realize this until I was halfway through. :(
