Lady Nelson by PRS - FINISHED - Amati/Victory Models - 1/64 Scale

Recommended Posts

This is my second build and learned a lot from here and building my Bluenose II.

Decided to tackle this as it comes highly recommended for beginners and will try to do the best I can and take it slow.

The kit is very nice and the supplied wood and fittings look good and also the plans are excellent. The instructions are pretty sparse but there are a lot of build logs here to answer any questions.

So let's get to it.

For the gun ports pieces I used the scrap to trace out the curve of the deck and cut the curve in a scroll saw.

Wetted and clamped the pieces of this and used my iron to get them to lay with the curve and left them overnight to set.

Side pieces glued on and left to dry. This went really well except a small crack on the port side around the forward gun port at the tope but with the planking it should not be noticeable and straighten out.

While all that was drying I made some of the deck furniture. To glue the gratings I used a 50-50 mix of modge podge and water and brushed it on. This worked real good and since it was satin and this it did hold quite well.

Wasn't worried about the different colors of the planking as I am painting the waterline anyway.

Used Tamiya tape and Badger Styrens white for this as I had it.

Deck planked and insides painted. ( I should have taken more pictures during these steps but wasn't sure I was going to do a log)

Broke first one as I got a little heavy handed.

Lets try this again. Opps broke again!

OK went and did a third and went very gentle. Third times a charm.

Finished this build. I like how it turned out and I learned a lot during the build.

I know it wasn't a step by step build log as I wasn't sure I was going to post it because my skills are a little lacking.

This Build turned out Beautiful, i have her sitting at my Desk now ready for unbox but i am looking if someone could give me the exact figures for the finished model (lenght, height including stand and width with yards stretched out). I need to order an Acrylic box for her BEFORE i even start building (to save her from my Cat)
