Hello,
I'm Robert, from the Thames Valley, upstream from London.
As a modeller, I've experience building plastic and resin kits, and of working with metal and wood.

As to ship modelling, I'm very new.
What lead me here? Somehow, Olha Batchvarov's videos started appearing on my YouTube.  Watching her builds, and wanting to build something similar, drew me to this forum.

Choice of first kit ...
I'm very tempted by Pavel Nikitin's 'Captain John Smith's Shallop', but what would you guys suggest?

Cheers
Robert

Hi Robert, and welcome to MSW from another Thames Valley based member.

You've come to the right place for advice and plenty of others will chip in with their thoughts. You can use the search function on here to research this model too. You'll find an excellent kit review by esteemed member James H.

Good luck with your project. Starting a build log is a great way to get advice, feedback and support!

Cheers,

Graham

Hi Robert, welcome to MSW.  I've just had a quick look at the 'Captain John Smith's Shallop'.  It looks like the perfect first kit.

I agree with Graham, start a build log and you'll be able to seek advice and opinions whenever you need it.  Good luck!

Hi Robert, a warm welcome to MSW!

Another suggestion for a first kit, have look at Vanguard Model; a few of their fishing vessels would also be good first kits.

Welcome to MSW Robert!

Another new member, JBH, has recently asked the same question.  Have a look at his page - see below - because there are some very helpful suggestions there about a first build.
