Hi everyone, signed up a few days ago, my name is Ian and I'm in Hampshire just outside Portsmouth, it's been a while since i joined a forum, everything seems to be Facebook related these day (which i don't like much) prefer the forums a lot more, I'm 77 and have been building models on and off since i was a kid, then it was the usual Airfix, Revell etc., not a lot of choice back then,  then in my 50's started on ships!, mostly warships both plastic kits and R/C stuff, then in my 60's it was cars quickly followed by trucks (big rigs)

the above "title" is what brought me to this forum, i had an idle  "Google" to look back on the Nichimo Yamato and saw a post on the Trumpeter "out the box" kit review, i have been thinking for a while now about having another go at a ship kit, but moneys the problem as I'm retired,  i made 2 of the Nichimo Yamato kits along with 2 destroyers and the Fleetscale  1/96th R/C Yamato (only got it about 80% finished i'm afraid), after a very brief of one of the 1/220 kits as Yamato (it went through the water like a jet propelled speedboat) i stripped it to the weather deck and converted it to the 3rd in class the Shinano aircraft carries, i still have these ships but sold most of the rest both made and still boxed,

OK then! sorry it's a longwinded intro, i will post some pictures asap when i get used to the forum and doubtless i'll have some questions, thank you very much for adding me to your crew, regards Ian
