Nick Tiberio Posted July 6 Share #1 Posted July 6 USS Coates was the first ship I served on, '65-'67, again '69-70. As a machinest mate assigned to both the firerooms and engine rooms. Now that the model is complete I look back at the years on and off building her. Working from shipyard prints, photos my memories are now complete. I'd like to share with fellow modelers a not to common build. The USS Coates is a Rudderow class destroyer escort that served from 1944 until decommissioning in 1970. Starting with a fiberglass hull from the Scale Shipyard and a display baseboard which became the foundation for this build.
