Progress on the Pennsylvania's bow. The figurehead and scroll work were carved months ago and were used in a display at a local museum. So, the most time consuming portion of this was already done. That is why this part seems to be going so quickly.

Thank everyone for the kind words.  I do not get many comments on my posts, so it is nice to see so many.

On another note, I am posting this announcement here in hopes the moderators will know where it should properly go.

As I believe many of you know, I was/am donating my 11 ships to the US Nay museum system. Unfortunately their 2026 budget has already been allotted, and so they may be only able to accept 2 of them. (packing and shipping are crazy from here to Norfolk Virginia). If they can in fact take 2 of them I will not know until sometime in January of 2026.  However, I was able to get into contact with a retired navy commander who is excited about donating at least 3 of them to local navy facilities. One is the Navy Jr ROTC program at the high school only 2 blocks from me. Another is the Naval reserve and the other is the ROTC program at the University of Arizona. The Tucson Mini Museum where I had an exhibit in Jan. thru April this year will take 2 of them. The rest I will try to sell at the Arizona State Fair and/or the the Pima County fair. Merry Christmas everyone. And thank you for continuing to like my work.

Putting them in ROTCs, schools, and libraries may help invigorate our hobby with future model shipwrights.  Well done.

Merry Christmas!

Strange that you would say that, The navy commander I visited with said much the same thing.  Going so far as to suggest the his friend and fellow commander that is is charge of the Jr. ROTC facility could arrange a field trip to tour my workshop and watch as I worked on my ship.  The commander I spoke with has a rather interesting history.  Has a crewman/officer aboard the submarine USS Dolphin when she had a seal fail and almost sunk her.
