Great picture OC.

I have saved it to study.

Having so many books on this and other ships of this nature, but any pictures that might bring new light are all ways welcome.

Thanks.

Hi OC.

Well taken a look and there's something new there that I have not seen, its the 18Ft Boat on a  34Ft Barge.

This might be a good idea come the mounting of my boats on the Victory.

So it seems your drawings has been of help.

I'm so pleased the plan was of use, i think scale plans are worth their weight and crutial to a boat build.

Hi Izzy Madd.

I to had a bit of a headache on the hammocks, sore how Daniel did his made me think on the same lines as you.

But sore on EBay a second hand Heller kit going cheapish , so managed to have a spare pair.

This idea is not only easier but stronger, even if I have to chop them up to fit Daniels etch supports, that's a little way off at the moment but needs sorting.

Also finding it very awkward to handle Victory while working on it, to that end I have purchased an Amati Keel clamp from Cornwall model boats, which is quite expensive, but as I have many more ships to build, this will be worth it, 'so I tell myself '.

Cheers OC.

Well started weathering the hammocks.

DSCF5803_zpsckfew43e.jpg
This stuff is clay based and can be washed off as required, once dry it stay's.
Next is the very usefull keel clamp I was on about, boy don't it make life easier.

DSCF5804_zpsljqwqzq4.jpg

With the boats near finished, it was time for the oars.
made these in four parts for two of the boats and three parts for the other three.

Four parts

Well here I be again folks.

Some more update on the build.
First a picture of the boats which are now finished and ready when needed.

DSCF5809_zpsqwr0wziv.jpg

Next is the 12 Pdrs in place and roped.

DSCF6196_zpsvyr8fhhm.jpg

Added the doors to the forecastle.

DSCF6197_zpsrtzlcxgy.jpg

And an overall picture of the progress.

DSCF6199_zpsmmimlkrr.jpg

Next was the block and tackle, had these made up earlier, but it takes time to fit.

Before.
DSCF6200_zpssbk8oqij.jpg

After.

DSCF6219_zpsq1z6tloq.jpg

Next its the net rails around the Hatch's.
These were made of brass.

DSCF6309_zpsx2ixz5sw.jpg

Sprayed with a Tamiya grey primer and then hand painted black.

DSCF6312_zpslsxwzppi.jpg

Then when dry a coat of Admiralty white paint.
DSCF6315_zpsagb6dy0z.jpg

Not a hundred percent correct on the supports.

DSCF6318_zpsxspmhlu4.jpg
Added netting and it looks much better.

Thank you guy's for your input, most appreciated.

Well from there it was a case of mounting the next (quarter deck).

First Nelsons cot.

DSCF6323_zpsrcwzimux.jpg

DSCF6324_zpskaeo4eic.jpg
The deck was put in in two parts, so as not to damage any thing below.
DSCF6325_zpstrzmgcw4.jpg
Added chequed pattern to Captains quarters.
DSCF6327_zpsjnfl6rgm.jpg
Plus the support posts on the boat deck.
DSCF6328_zpsn8wcyv2f.jpg

DSCF6330_zpsojacalai.jpg

Next its Dafis etched pike racks that adorn the Four and main masts.

Cheers Guys.

Thanks Bob shipmate.

Moved on a bit with the planking.
Used four apart for the main quarter deck and three apart for the Poop deck.

But first the pike racks.
These are Dafi's etched parts, and as he say's in his hints and tips, 'very fiddly'.

DSCF6331_zpsiu5dfu9p.jpg
Both the foremast and main carried these in racks, main full circle, fore half circle around masts.

Fitted 5mm from the deck.

DSCF6340_zps7noocvdi.jpg
As I am planking this deck, I used some wood to get the height and fixed the lower rack circle with the top one just slid on. Then measured the distance and fixed the top rings.
Then loaded the pikes.

DSCF6336_zps2fxvksuo.jpg

DSCF6341_zps739bkcnd.jpg

Some touching up with paint.

DSCF6342_zps2ctlsc58.jpg
Next its some strapping to hold pikes in position.

Then it was the turn of the deck.
DSCF6349_zpsqa4jf4hc.jpg

Worked from the centre out.

DSCF6348_zpsrplcdah0.jpg

'Hey presto'.

DSCF6353_zpshl20kfpd.jpg

DSCF6352_zpsgoiu9me3.jpg

DSCF6350_zpsecg9xtmu.jpg

Now completed the planking on all decks.

Next its to fit a better support for the stands fixed to the keel.
Have some wood and brass one's.
Will use the Brass I think.
The stands that come with the kit are to flimsy and keep snapping.

So before I go to much further, this has to be sorted.

Congratulations Frank,

Cheers, Daniel

Thank you Daniel.

Yep was a challenge and thanks to your helpful hints it came out OK.

Well before sorting the stand, I decided to do the Hatch's, the Heller one's I thought were to small in height.

So am making mine from evergreen plastic.

I made up rough using the Heller grates.

DSCF6355_zpsug1uxx3o.jpg

DSCF6356_zpsfuwlpqw0.jpg

After sawing/sanding they began to take shape.

DSCF6358_zpsauqhnrhu.jpg

Note Marine Officer Captain Hatcher is Officer of the watch.

DSCF6364_zps1sb6kjdu.jpg

DSCF6365_zpsatahugfg.jpg

Some paint next and then fix.

Then its to the Captains quarters we go.

Thanks OC shipmate.

Ok had ago at the stand and have from Cornwall model boats some wood supports.

They screw to the keel and are a lot stronger, just some varnish later, can be unscrewed so I can continue with my Keel holder.

DSCF6374_zpseuhxpfcc.jpg

Next it was the Hatch's, these were painted and sealed then fixed to the deck.
Am adding more that I made earlier so its beginning to take shape faster.

DSCF6376_zpsiljkfafv.jpg

For the main hatch I made up in two parts and painted.

DSCF6372_zpshcmdwirj.jpg

Then fixed to quarter deck.

DSCF6375_zpsgxwscaba.jpg

Also at this time added the smaller steps behind the Mizzen mast.

DSCF6369_zps52qfkzdx.jpg

More to follow.

The poop deck kept my attention today, having planked it I started putting Dafi's eyelets/kevels in place.
Also the beams across the skylight.

DSCF6387_zps1pcvaceh.jpg

Placed the etch skylight and you can see the beams, so thanks Daniel for the input on that.

DSCF6386_zps7gspwjt3.jpg

Also working on the furniture for the Captains quarters, will not bore you with it till I have completed this section of the ship.

Thanks very much Bob.

It was an old kit and took some work to get the crest looking right, Dafi made new lions for his and I nearly went down that road.
But happy with it.

Next it was the ships wheel in place, made sure the poop deck was not compromised.

DSCF6397_zpseiiqzcwv.jpg

DSCF6391_zpskfb0n3pb.jpg
Added figures that may or may not be used.

Next I fitted the Bowsprit at this time.
Adding Dafi's Resin Knights head that I explained earlier how I went about this.

DSCF6392_zpsnjblh214.jpg

Rapped ropes around, for this I used black 0.65mm rope, will use also for the lower preventer stay's.
DSCF6395_zpstl0h7cy2.jpg

Then the marine work and support.

DSCF6399_zpsczzccc8q.jpg

Last picture is of the Kit stern lamps, these come in clear plastic and with a bit o paint do not look to bad.
Still to remove plastic supports and add Dafi's brass one's.

Added the windows at this stage.

DSCF6404_zpstvomkryj.jpg
Plus Captian Hatcher tested the Marine work.
DSCF6403_zpsfx65gqdj.jpg

Then it was a test fit of the masts.

DSCF6405_zpsbqvrotnh.jpg

All sitting comfortable.

DSCF6408_zpszwrh3kvo.jpg

Next its fit out the Captains quarters and start on the port side hatch's.
Fix the poop deck and then the Channels/deadeye's and chains.

No pressure then.

Looking really good there sir,  i dont know if its just me but the plastic versions do seem to be more in scale particularly the beam,   if you look across the width of the top decks the scale just looks right,  the wood kits are of course excellent in their own rights.

Well its a picture of the Captains quarters, have added more items after this picture, doors to the Galley and some smaller items.

DSCF6409_zpsqavafrwl.jpg

Placed poop deck on at this stage and added some more fittings.

DSCF6414_zpsytlbxl5q.jpg

DSCF6418_zpsurnw4f4v.jpg

Then it was to the rigging I turned.
Made up heart blocks from Syren models and added to bowsprit for preventer stay's later.

DSCF6416_zpssv7pu8em.jpg

DSCF6415_zpsifb4pqpu.jpg

DSCF6413_zps7un9zdix.jpg

Cheers Daniel.

Well now its the draught marks next from Dafi's etched set.

Good to have the hints and tips at this part of the build.
Stern. will add more copper to tidy up.
DSCF6424_zpstuvinyyd.jpg

Same with Bow.
DSCF6425_zpso8x8o0g8.jpg

Have now completed all the Hatch's and tided up the hull.
Then fixed the channels in position and left to set proper.

DSCF6423_zpskx3itzfd.jpg

DSCF6422_zpsve4wjsyn.jpg

Have also fixed masts in position.
Next is dead-eye's and crest to bow.

Frank.  :piratebo5:

Well its on again today, with the crest made up and now mounted, it was the turn of finishing the latin lettering to the bow.
Using Dafis help full hints made this a lot easier.

DSCF6428_zpsxcfxighx.jpg
Then it was the lettering, only lost two letters, but there are plenty more to make up for this, but care is needed.

DSCF6432_zps9g9yecu0.jpg

Next the nymphs were added, but also added some plastic to support the crest, once painted this is in non/visible.

DSCF6437_zpsgian8djh.jpg

The Driver Booms were next, having made thes and the Gaff earlier, it was only the parrals to allow free movement.

DSCF6440_zps224l0gsq.jpg
Boom in place but Gaff needs some more work before in stalling.
Made the parrals from lead weights, split and ca to hold, came out well I thought.

Then seeing the channels were set ok, I started adding the deadeye's, these using Dafis etched one's with the Heller centre's.

DSCF6444_zpshstgf7nv.jpg

Being no more time(tea time) I only did the one for-d set.

This be no advert, but the ropes from syren are fantastic, having procured some and started useing them, they are the bee's knee's for rigging.

The dead eye's have been my first use of them and what with the quality they will make this part of the work well worth it.

Onwards and upwards.
