Hi Mike

Are you sure that's not the full sized boat that you're pretending is your model? It must be, because it looks authentic, especially the way you've replicated the fillets against each deck beam to give strength and rigidity to the hull.

One heck of a nice job!

Cheers

Hi Igor, Marc, Patrick, Michael, hi everyone

Thanks all of you for feedbacks, your visits and likes!

@Igor

In Log no. 149 I falsely claimed that three different setups regarding jib sail consist. But you're right, there are only two versions of jibs (normal jib and storm jib), as shown on the sketch in Post Nr. 151 (Letter “F“ means the storm jib). Thanks for the hint.

@Mark

Thanks for your encouragement, but I am still not sure whether my RC design will holding - on this topic,

I have to learn by trial and error ...  :huh:

@Michael and Patrick

Yes, I will certainly report you success or failure about the draining system ... Patrick, this is really a funny story, this toilet installation of your father - the model boat that (let's say) all two minutes a WC flushing ejects ...  :P

... back to the workshop. Concerning of the upcoming edge of the deck I worked on the chainplate. Last but not least, it was a welcome change to the wood work ...

Hi Mike

With the care and attention that you're giving to every bit of your ship, (as witnessed by your chain plates), I reckon she deservedly belongs in a museum when you're finished. However, the fact that she will be a working model, with such a high quality of workmanship, makes it all the more special.

Nicely done!

Cheers

Hi Greg, Patrick ...

... as well as everyone else who visit "Stavanger's" shipyard. Many, many thanks for all of your feedback, comments and likes. Always greatly appreciated!  :)

In the following post I would like to document a do-it-yourself tool.

In general, I swear on Proxxon tools - you can't win a war with it, but second to none is the price-performance ratio! ... Well, there is unfortunately no reasonable mini milling attachment for the IBS/E highspeed tool, but I need one for future cutting work on the semi-finished deck. So, I helped me myself ...

Hi again

Thanks everyone who visited the shipyard, and thanks for all the likes.

@Carl

Many thanks for such a great feedback! ...

“... well done ...“ – thanks a lot! ...  :)

“... something to remember ...“ – that would be a pleasure ...  ^_^

“... clever ...“ – maybe a little bit ...  :rolleyes:

“... master mind ...“ – there are also other opinions – to this you have to interviewing my admiral ...  ;)

The next thing that I must prepare are the double-width planks with the deck day-lights. To this I used a milling guide to obtain easily a high repeat accuracy (s. below) ...

Hi Patrick, hi Dimitris,

as well as everyone else who visit "Stavanger's" shipyard.

Many, many thanks for all of your feedback, comments and likes. Always greatly appreciated!

@ Patrick

Patrick, you faithful companion - always welcome and thanks a lot!

@Dimitris

It’s good to know you back in the MSW shipyards - and thanks a lot for such a great feedback and all the likes!

I’ve decided to tackle the design and construction process of the deck in a little unconventional way. At this point the following points are to noticing:

- There is only one construction layer for the deck - no false deck below (s. Log #90 and #76).

- Cut-outs boundaries are already prepared (s. Log #156).

- Deck will planked through on its whole surface.

- Cut-outs will later milled (Only this way, I can be sure that later everything just fits - hyperbolic shaped deck - s. also Log #90).

- Longitudinal planking joints are subsequently milled (due to the future dark coloration of the deck, almost no one will remark the continuous wood structure as disturbing).

- Caulking in a separate work step (s. Log #76).

So, the following pictures show the beginning of this process ...

post-14773-0-40516200-1443163864_thumb.jpg

Everything ready, plank stack in the background, plans.

The first two - straight! ...  :)

... and a pair of plank per day^_^

Hi Patrick

Concerning covered thoughts ...

... sometimes, even myself I don't know, what exactly I have had in mind :huh: - such a long time, I was thinking about this deck construction process. I'll be glad if all went well and if I can everything disassemble and reassemble after milling the openings.  ;)

Cheers,

Mike

Hi Mike

That sounds very familiar to me!  I often thought "now, how am I going to fit this in...oh yer, just cut the deck open again...!

I look forward to seeing how you pull it altogether, for no doubt, she's gonna be a beauty.

Cheers and all the best!

A special case of the planking we'll find in the area of the wide groove of the openings (they will be later equipped with an elastic gasket). There I have a “flying“ plank without bearing - it's hanging in the air.

The fix of this problem shows two planks coupled on the underside (s. below).
