Thanks Patrick,

I have used the part of the photoetched set for the railing.

I tried to make it of a wire earlier, but the result wasn't pleasant to me.

Magnificent.  Where did you find the set.  Those parts would be interchangeable with with almost any model built to that tiny scale.  Where do you keep the workers from Lilliput that you have actually doing the work for you oh master shipwright. ;)

Hi everyone,

Patrick, Carl, Bob, David and all who click on the Like many thanks for good works and the interest to my model.

David I have ordered previously and had already received several sets of the PE detailes, such as rails, round windows, anchors, steering wheels, and many others. I use them when I can not make myself these details.

So I completed the rails and set them in place. You can see them in the photo below.

I used the needle instead instead the drill.

Hi Igor, must be a fairly tall bottle you'll be using to have the masts so high. Can't wait to see how she turns out in the end.

Yes, Carl, I have a few bottles suitable for this model (I wrote about choosing a bottle at the beginning of this log), but at the beginning of the construction, I chose one. Yesterday I was presented with another bottle and now I think again.

Best Regards!

Igor.

Thanks Patrick and Matt!

Today I think as to make windows in the schooner case. I was going to paste the PE details, but the result wasn't pleasant to me. I tried to make them of the thin tube. I used a needle from a syringe with a diameter of 0,6 mm and I inserted the parts of the tube into openings.

Perhaps someone can offer other ways?

Best Regards!

Igor.

Hey igor, I used self adhesive coloured foil punched with a leather punch. Perhaps use the same technique though punch the foil with the syringe? Out of anyone you would have the care and patience to try it at that small a diameter.

Igor, if you wish to simulate glass Krystal Kleer is used by many people to simulate it.  I experimented with watered down Elmers. Good luck.

Clever!!! And using your new tools too!!!

Hi Carl,

Yes, there are 2 new photo tools - the pin vise and the steel pin. I magnetized the steel pin, and it allowed me to easily take the pieces of the needle to insert them into the holes.

I shall remember this technique as I have port holes to model as well. It turned out very good.

Hi Jeff,

I use these needles with a diameter of 0.3 - 1.0 mm. But they can be used not only for the port holes. For example, I think the needle diameter of 0.3 mm can be used as the yards or for making cannon for the models of very small scale. It is the tube through which you can skip the thread.

Best Regards!

Igor.

  • 3 years later...

Hey, everybody!
So, I stopped this project about four years ago. A few days ago I continued building this model.
First of all, I decided to make new masts.

It seems you have learned some new skills. Your masts look really marvelous. How did you make those 8 shapes in metal?

Yes, Carl, it is. I used a needle from the syringe. I'll try to take a series of photos of this process later.
