Aren't you already building the Caldercraft kit?
-
Your suggested method is how I recall doing it Bob. Any joint will be well hidden by the cap itself.

A question, I have seen some people placing the wheels inside the holders but the plans says they should be on the outside. What is the correct way?
Inside the supports is correct.

With a little care, the Latham kit can be built into a pretty spectacular model.
Thanks guys.
So far Latham looks good fiddling around with things Chris. The fittings package looks decent and the Ronnberg plans (other than the rigging sheet) look good. I picked up Chapelle's "American Fishing Schooners" book and can tell it will be a nice resource.
Build log to follow once I get something concrete going. Should be a nice change form the warships!

Great to see her finished Wayne! Love the display idea, it looks fantastic.
Nicely done!

I used Maple on my Cruizer, much better than the Tanganyika. 4mm is fine for width.

Looks like an interesting build Mike. Good luck with your foray into plastic!
I've had the itch to build some plastic lately after not having done so for a few years.

Sophie is complete, and has been for a while but just getting around to getting pictures up. I've been through a rough patch health wise, with four hospitalizations and two surgeries over the last few months. Hopefully on the road to full recovery at this point.
Anyway...hope you enjoy the final photos, it was quite an enjoyable build, and with a few changes I highly recommend the kit.

Stergios,
Yes, I did customize that (as well as other parts of the rigging) based on the Brig Irene book.

Ha! No check needed Bob, that came out nicely. The stern decorations look very good.

That's nice clean work Bob. Trust me, it took some fiddling to get those rails right. Sand, test fit, repeat...

Very nice clean work David. She looks great.

Excellent progress Bob.

Looks great David. Very nice work on that challenging rigging.
