Welcome to the forum! That room looks really nice. Still trying to figure out what that second picture is. Definitely starting a smaller less advanced project is always a good idea to see if you enjoy shipbuilding. Royal Caroline and the Mercury are wonderful ships however some people may find them a little bit much as their first project. Although I have been exceptional craftsmen who can easily accomplish such a complex project on the first try

That looks like a very nice sized project. A little bit at a time and it will be done in no time

Looks like it would take forever

That planking looks fantastic. I very much enjoy your explanations and I would love to see exactly how you ripped planks. I was thinking that I would probably start practicing soon on some blanks. I’ve never tried to rip planks from the left of the blade before. I might see if I can build a proper jig/spacer/attachment for that.

It’s never too much I always love seeing how people do things and think problems through.

I have just received mine and although I have only scratched the surface it looks like an excellent book and I’m looking forward to spending much much more time with it

Looks like you are doing really well there. Have you thought ahead to how you are going to finally display the ship? Now might be a good time to add any hardware if you are going with pedestals. If you are going with the cradle then no problem

Very nice. I really like seeing these other type of boats. Will definitely follow along

Welcome! Looks like a nice little project there. Definitely as Mark says above, look into the “restoration“ build logs here on the site as they do have a lot of great information

Looking really good. That bending jig certainly helps quite a bit.

Welcome to the Forum! You’ll find plenty of helpful people here. Please start a blog blog when you can

One issue with the search is you will find all posts which mention Beagle in them. To make it easier to find build logs you can use the tags.
Once you find a particular build log you can click on the tag at the top of the build named Beagle and it will bring up every build log we have for the ship without all the other topics which may have mentioned it.

Yes definitely read about the banned kit manufacturers.
For the Royal Caroline there is a Mantua-Panart kit at 1:47 scale although that is a very hefty investment for a first build
