  1. Still plodding along.  the rudder is finished although not added yet as I don't want to take the chance of having it get knocked off.  The tiller is just press fit and is removable.

I spent the day making the flag poles and just have the flags to attach and shape for that to be done and the rest of the day was spent prepping the sweeps.  The painting should begin tomorrow.

Taken one piece at a time it's not so intimidating

I think I keep getting ahead of myself worrying about the next next step etc.  Just need to concentrate on doing the thing in front of me right now

    which is...

many many pieces were harmed to bring this to an somewhat acceptable piece

if all the floors, futtocks and toptimbers are the same thickness this is a modelers convention to make the construction easier.

Yup exactly 😁 me being the ham fisted clod with minimal skills and minimal experience milling my own wood thought it might be a touch easier for first scratch. Well unless you count this....

which is technically my first scratch build 😳  circa 1975ish

My son just finished his eagle project and we have a bunch of scrap cut offs of some western red cedar.  I know it not that great for small scales but I thought I would at least practice dimensioning some of it as it was destined for the fire pit.

Still eyeing the Cheerful as the frames and keel are already cut.

Yup I love the cross sections and have been going through the excellent logs here especially the one by @davec

  4. Been away for a while but now have quite a bit of time to get back to the barge.  My job basically doesn't care how much time I take off as long as I get all of my shifts and hours in so I have been working really hard to jam all my shifts in so I can go on vacation.  Welp, I am now just started my vacation however with the pandemic I cannot travel to where we were planning to go so I will be stuck at home for the next week.

One good thing about the time at work is we do occasionally have some down time.  A while back someone at my club was getting rid of some old mags so I grabbed them and I have been going through a bunch of old NRG journals from the 80's and there is so much great content in there.  One issue had an article by Harold Hahn, and Jean Boudroit and by the Kriegsteins about their collection.

For the Barge I have the rudder, sweeps, flags, and the carvings let to do.  Will be starting tomorrow.

Probably shouldn't get ahead fo myself but I am trying to decide on the next project.  Something like Cheerful which I really like and I have the package for.  I love the Pride of Baltimore II and have that kit in my stash.  I also was interested in a x-section such as the Triton.  The Triton would be a stepping stone to the Echo x-section with its much more complex framing.

  5. I applied the fix to my files on my computer.

    macOS Catalina 10.15.6

The files for disks from 1990-1994 and 1995-1999. Disks are titled "Seaways' Ships in Scale" vol 1 and vol 2.  These work perfectly as you describe.

The files for disks from1983-1987 and 1988-1991 are not completely there yet. These are the ones titled "The Original Ships in Scale" vol 1 and vol 2

These ones will now open up and allow searching and the results will show up in the new tab.  The problem is that the hyperlink to open/goto the article will not work.

The same procedure was applied to each of the files on my computer.

Overall great work on the fix.  I haven't used these too much due to the lack of searching.
