Brian, I think you took the right route with mounting the last bulkhead. That being said, this forum is all about thinking outside the box and sharing with others when a better way comes along. It's all looking straight and square and the additional spacers will add a lot of strength to keeping it that way while you are planking. I thank you for your praise and in answer to your inquiry, I have been working on my Niagara for the better part of three years.

The progress is really coming along on this incredible kit-bash. The frames for the coamings look excellent. I remember asking you on MSW 1.0 what you were going to do with the cannons and carronades. Are you going to be going with Bluejacket replacements or do you have something else in mind?

Popeye, I recall a certain comedian telling his audience that money does buy happiness. His example was that money can buy jet-ski's and you never see sad people on jet-ski's, huh? I think we are all just impatiently waiting for an update on the lobster twins. This conversation got me thinking about seafood so much that I pan-seared some tilapia for supper tonight .Then I saw that Red Lobster is running their Lobster-fest promo. I think I know what I will be having for supper tomorrow.

Gentlemen, thanks for stopping in. Augie, I'll get to work on those yards and booms . Larry, You're going to want to hurry on sawing off the stern of my Niagara as it may be all tangled up in my rigging if you wait too much longer. I'll take a couple weeks stay in Florida as trade for the stern . 42rocker, thanks for looking in. Let us know when you start on your Niagara with a build log so we can follow along. Our Niagara club is growing by the day it seems.

Adam, the stern area is looking great. I need to keep reminding myself to pick up one of these pens with the archival ink. I had originally used a permanent marker on my deck's caulking and it bled a little into the wood. Another one of those hindsight things I guess. At any rate, keep up the good work. I'm looking forward to your updates.

I am getting some more done on my standing rigging. The main mast;s rigging is nearing completion and I figured I'd get some photos in here before I got too far along. The first picture is of my parrel making materials and the second is the completed parrel on the yard and main mast. The third picture is for Augie because I know he loves ratlines. The other two pictures were just received in the mail and I am looking forward to diving into these books.

Larry, you could always try a hybrid approach. Try installing the waterways as you are thinking (piece by piece), and then, since the deck isn't in place yet, do any filling, sanding and painting. I wish I had approached it in this manner, but I was too impatient with getting it together. Hindsight is 20/20.

JP, the garboard strakes look good. Some of those smaller mistakes (like you 'ouch') won't be as visible as you think once things are completed. The camera doesn't really add ten pounds as they say, but it does tend to point out even the smallest, most minute flaws that people would never notice otherwise. Your Rattlesnake up to this point has been incredibly clean and well thought out.

That is some incredible detail. I'm not that familiar with photo-etching sets for anything besides armor and aircraft models. Can you take a picture of your photo-etch set so we can see what all is included?
-
This is always the best part of your builds Popeye! The details you put into these boats and ships are very well thought out and add so much character. Those lobster traps look excellent. Keep it up!

Robert, that capstan looks pretty sweet! I'm sensing that your dabbling with the dark arts of scratch building may lead you to the 'other half' of this website. Just adding the star to the top would have been cool but you went made it impressive when you inlaid it there. It's a very cool addition and I am very much looking forward to more updates.

"Thanks for enduring the brain dump".... No no no, thank YOU for making some of these deductions. Many people are building the USS Constitution by going off of whatever the kits decides is pertinent but not necessarily historically accurate. Your log is pointing out quite a bit and it's very enjoyable to follow along. Please continue to brain dump . I know I will be stealing some of your posted thoughts when I start on my Connie.

I've been following along silently since I joined the old website. Now I have to speak up. Not only is there one incredible Victory being built, but now you are starting on a second one. Your work has never been short of inspiring. This is simply incredible.

Augie, your rigging looks great. That main mast looks good with the stays and ratlines and it all looks very clean. I use a very similar method for my hanging rope coils, so I guess that makes me a neophyte darksider as well. I feel honored.
