Your planking is looking good! I hope to use that method on my ship, but I won't need to add filler blocks, as she is a solid hull. As far as your question, I don't know. As for Naval Action, I have looked at it, and it looks to be of great quality. I do think that if I got it it would absorbe a lot of my time, but I'm still not sure.

Yes, as well as add a second hole to simulate a sheave. I will look up block tumblers!

Slowly but surely sanding and filling. This morning I modified one of my kit supplied blocks. It turned out better than it was before I worked with it, so that's a plus! When I get home, it's back to filling and sanding!

That last photo is my favorite side of it.
