Thresher & stable engine by RGL - FINISHED - Plus Model - 1/35

You really captured the various metals as aged surfaces. The rust is spot on and the paint worn off the tractor parts turned out super. 👍 -
Phil, those open corrugated cardboard pieces keep the build strong? And they're thin enough? That's a good cost saver.

Nice work, fitting that coupler box. Very handy tool. -

Nice color combination. Back in the day, they really liked to show off the mechanicals with bright paints. -
Glad to read things are looking better for you these days, Alan. Your continuing with your hobby are a good portion of that. You're doing a very nice job wrestling with this A Model Yak. As I remember, it has tandem mains and pogos at the wingtip positions. Sort of like our B-47/52 models and the U-2. Your BMF are looking pretty good, especially your Dragon.😁

Chuck, I grew up in Lodi and went to college at Stevens in Hoboken. Spent a little time watching Holland America refurbish transports at the piers below school. And High Point is a whopping 1800' or so. A molehill relative to places like Grandfather Mountain (5800' or so) here in western NC. But the Appalachians are pretty old, compared to out west. Anyway, that's a beautiful area above Sparta. You'll love it.

I wouldn't give up on resin, based on one manufacturer.I believe this kit is one of their first issues. Their resin then has been replaced by better resins for we modelers. The resins do use CA glue, not plastic cements of wood glues. Look at the detail parts you get from Model Monkey and other aftermarket providers. They are superbly detailed. And there are some plastic kit makers who do limited run kits with no alignment pins, which will give many folks fits. Search around on various websites to get an idea on who makes the model closest to what you want to build. I use scalemates.com, steelnavy.net and modelwarships.com to begin a search.

Your aircraft and figures really add life to the Big E. Well done. Only nit is the officers on the bridge were in khakis and black shoes, not dress whites or dungarees. 😉😁

Mine was a green one with the wrap around grey belly. Think they called a NATO or European scheme. No pale gray. And there were gaps between the unpianted titanium plates; enough to be able to shake the plates. 😲 I have a partial disability with the VA medical system for what happened over time to my c-spine, thanks to the cumulative physical stresses inherent to high G operations. But I'm happy to have been able to have my flying career.🫡

Nice explanation of the hairspray chipping technique. And I love the job you did on the hot section of the F-4. I had an up close and personal look at one I had been flying during my weapons school training. We went thru jet wash and had the artificial feel system go out. A nice 3-4 G turn became an instantaneous 10.5 G fight to get the jet back under our control. Pilot did a great job getting us recovered back at our base. During our post flight walk around, we could rattle the the "alligator skinning" around the tailhook. We broke those bolts. You could use a little more burnt metal in those curved areas. 😉😁

Quite the suitably ugly bucket of bolts you have there, Greg. Well done. -

Really like the ceiling treatment. And the wood looks great to me. 👍

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
