  1. That steel looks excellent, Rob. I've been impressed with the AK product line ever since I saw a presentation on their uses in structures and diorama building. Keep up the good work.
  2. Alan, having associated with a number of Lightning pilots at Gutersloh RAFG base in the mid 70s, I propose a Lightning 2 in NMF for your quality build. I built a Matchbox one in their dark Green over silver scheme for 92 Squadron. Please. 😉
  3. Superb job. Quite nicely done. And good luck with the move and training.
  4. Chris, that sounds plausible. But I'm no experten on Luftwaffe airframes. I do know that a lot of WW II fighters were very sensitive on the amount of ground time between engine start and takeoff. The maintainers usually did a start to warm up the engine before the pilot got to his bird, then shut down until the mission start time.
  5. Nice find. Now that Vette will be the show stopper. 👍
  6. That's one beautiful resin casting. My only reservation about the white resin is spotting all the locations that need your attention like drilling holes and fitting parts together. Our white work-lights on white resin can be tricky. I took to dusting a gray primer on the resin so I could see all necessary locations. Craig, I look forward to watching this car proceed to completion, especially your smooooth finishes. And those white resin casters listened to their market and now use a gray styro-urethane. Mush easier on the old eyes.
  7. A dip in Future/Pledge/Klear or whatever it is called now for the clear plastic should defog your windows. That stuff is a clear liquid acrylic floor finish.
  8. Thing is oddly attractive, in a perverse way. Fun build you've got there Greg.
  9. My Admiral is a retired Registered Nurse and calls feeling that survivor's guilt. Since you're already out and about helping your neighbors, that's good therapy.
  10. Glad to read you are safe, Alan. There are a few of us here wandering about is varying states of shock, thanks to the two hurricanes. Good luck rebuilding your area.
  11. NJ State Police and NYPD sent rescue teams to the Asheville area, too. They have heavy rescue skills for extracting folks from under wreckage.
  12. Mine is, too. I lose HO scale clevises with some regularity. My find rate is about 30%. I use a good flashlight/torch and the little blighters seem to find obscure little crevices to hide in or bounce into an open kit box lid. 😁
  13. I'll be following along, too. Don't know how much tech I can provide, but I will be aiding in the peanut gallery, urging you along.😄
  14. RFID chips? Maybe get your dog to sniff it out, properly muzzled so as to not eat the tinier pieces? Dog noses are 7K times more powerful than any of us possess.
  15. These storms had tornadoes along the east coast of Florida. His power grid must be garbage right now. We, up in NC got help from as far away as Calgary, Alberta up in Canada. So trying to get crews down there may take some time. Thoughts and prayers for folks in those areas.
  16. Yes, a not very well done limited production. I think Popeye had issues with some of the Roden kits he's built.
  17. OOF! I liked my Boeing jets, everything worked. Granted they were built in 1953 or so. And had great maintenance.
  18. Looking good Yves. Can't wait to see your vestibules and steps.
  19. Gives readers a good idea of the efforts needed to turn out a quality (plastic) ship model. Leave it in.
  20. Keep up the good work, Yves. Reminds me of the old Westwood Models passenger car kits for the old wooden passenger cars of primarily the late 1800s. They didn't do interiors and the windows and doors were plastic. You built them on the plan sheet covered in wax paper and pinned up while the glue dried. Just like the old balsa planes. 😄
  21. It's all looking good, Keith. 👍 Will you apply the pastels to the walls, doors and windows? They have a slight sheen right now. The wood/coal burned would leave a fine coating of soot on everything. Then, you get the rain runoff around the windows and doors, leaving wispy trails of soot behind.
