  1. The Crate looks great (weak pun). I like the Burnt Orange shade. And a garage/shop to boot. 👍
  2. The resin side of the hobby had one or two, but you may only find them on the 'Bay. And maybe a card model, too. The original was found off Fort Sumter and resides in a museum in Charleston, SC. They're soaking it in chemicals to remove all the salt in the iron; similar to what the museum in Hampton, VA is doing to the turret, cannons and other pieces of the USS Monitor.
  3. You might look up Antonio "FP45" Santana on UTube. He has done great work in airbrushing Alclad paints on passenger cars. The FP45 in his name is/was a passenger loco used by the Santa Fe before Amtrak took over. The Santa Fe ran a lot of stainless steel cars in what is called the "Lightweight" configuration and they routinely washed them at their major terminals in Chicago and the West Coast. Lionel always had a Santa Fe streamliner in their catalog in the classic Warbonnet scheme. Back then, we kids lusted for a Santa Fe train to run around the Christmas tree.
  4. Sometimes the base color affects the reflectivity. For stainless passenger cars on a model railroad, a dark gray base coat seems better than the black.
  5. I remember building a 63 Vette sprayed with that color. This will be interesting.
  6. I'll second Roger's recommendation. The authors did a lot of new work to write the book on the Battle of Midway.
  7. I'm in, Craig. I think one model RR manufacturer still does. I just ordered parts and they showed up in about 5 days. Most others don't even keep a parts inventory.
  8. Proceeding nicely, Andy. Definitely a novelty. I keep wondering what their aerodynamicists were thinking when they put that near vertical windscreen on the canopy. 😉
  9. Another superb job, Craig. Love your painting and finishing.👍
  10. Very well done, Yves. 👍 Model RR clubs are a way to have and operate on a model RR. Most are built in HO and N scales. Very occasionally in O scale. And yes it is money intensive, especially for the current era modeler, with the numbers of very detailed locos. These are built for optional digital command and control. Many choose this option because it gives you sounds and lighting effects in engines and cars. Those of us who had Lionel or American Flyer sets were wowed with a headlight and horn, maybe w smoking steam engine. Now these effects come in HO and N scale. The control boards can drive 2 watt speakers, so care is taken not to overpower the "sugar cube" and cell phone speakers installed in locos. Check out for clubs in your area(s) that run holiday trains. Ours does a Polar Express train for the "kids".
  11. Another site for O Scale detailing parts, although the site is down right now. https://www.precisionscaleco.com/ And here's another site for detail parts: http://wisemanmodelservices.com/ Have fun.
  12. Nicely done! The roof and extension look great. Not a good assignment to be shoveling coal into the firebox while the train is chugging along plowing thru a snowdrift. No wonder these roads had multiple bunk cars for both the engine men and the section(track) men.
  13. The aerial cannons on many of our earlier jets, up thru at least the F-16s, are 6 barrel M61A1 20mm Gatling guns, capable of up to 6,000 RPM. The size of a jet's magazine, like the silver drum in the second opening, defined how many seconds of gunfire per jet. The F-4E had 640 rounds in it's magazine, so it had 10 seconds of cannon. This Tomcat looks like around the same size. We were limited to a 2 second burst or the barrels overheated and twisted into a pretzel. One of my squadrons in SEA had a warped barrel set in our lounge.
  14. Opening the louvers and intake on the front really enhance the looks of this Cobra. 👍
  15. Check for a local RC aircraft shop. Absent that, try mail order. Tower Hobbies, in Chicagoland, is one shop I know.
  16. Might that have been Preco? I remember ads, but none of the details.
  17. Nicely done. I really like the finish on your porthole liner. 👍
  18. Another well done build. And a stroll down memory lane. Thank you for showing them, Craig. 👍😁
