  1. Welcome aboard!
  2. Hi, Annabelle. Pond yachts are not a common subject on our site, but we do have some discussion threads about them. You can find a list of them by clicking here. And here are some pond yacht websites: https://www.worldpondyachtday.com/ https://www.grovepondyachts.com/ (vendor) http://www.pondboats.com/ (vendor) Between those sources, you should be able to find enough photos to give you an idea of how to rig your model. Kind regards,
  3. But it looks like you will indeed finish -- which is something that can't be said for a lot of ship modeling projects that get started! So keep plugging away!
  4. Thanks, Craig! I've gone bright red! It's interesting to compare building in card to building in plastic. The best plastic modelers are the folks who are skilled at airbrushing and weathering. A good card model has those effects already printed on the kit parts, and the hard part is cutting, shaping, and making tidy seams. I'm still nowhere near the talent of the best card modelers from Europe, but I keep trying!
  5. Welcome aboard!
  6. I would love to build the 1:1 version of this boat, but I have no place to store one, and of course I'd have to trailer it and have no room for a trailer, either. Oh, well. Have you seen this video of a CLC wherry being rowed? I love the part where the guy overtakes a group of kayakers with ease.
  7. Welcome aboard! Former Upland resident here.
  8. Cockpit outer skins added. I plan to follow the kit numbering sequence as much as possible, which means wings will be next.
  9. You may be thinking ahead to this step already, but make sure you get the two sides aligned perfectly whilst gluing, otherwise you won't get that lovely mirrored-halves look for the hull planking.
  10. I think the Rogers Collection has established a precedent. 😉
  11. This is where I usually resort to using what I call "judicious camera angles." 🤫
  12. No apologies needed -- all is forgiven! But unfortunately you can't move a topic into the gallery -- you'll need to create a new gallery album and add your photo to it.
  13. Interesting, but this should be moved to the Contemporary Models section of the Gallery.
  14. Hi, Paul. This article will actually answer many of your questions about how to use the forum. In addition to the method for uploading photos described in the article, you can simply copy-and-past photos directly into your post. My photos are stored on Google's cloud, and that's how I add them. You can start a build log at the beginning of a build or chronicle a previous build. If you just want to share photos of completed models, you can do that in the gallery. Cheers!
  15. Milestone Reached The cockpit sides are complete! The only cockpit element left to install is the gunsight, which is a ridiculously delicate 3D-printed piece and will therefore be added much later. I wrestled with whether to add some more details that are not included in the kit, e.g., the elevator trim contol cable on the left side and the mass of cables and tubing on the floor along the right side (plastic kits typically have these elements molded in). I'm leaning toward not adding these details because: They would require a lot of extra work. There are no templates for making them. To see them, a viewer would have to pick up the model in order to peer into the cockpit's inky depths. Anyone who dares to pick up one of my models risks being on the receiving end of bodily harm. That last one clinches the decision, I think. Here are some final interior photos -- the next step is to glue the sides to the cockpit framing. 😮
  16. As have all the good designers, sadly. You are wise to keep your secret recipe close to the vest -- just like Miss Mamie and Miss Emily.
  17. Welcome to MSW, Paul. I know it would require some extra work, but I can say with some confidence that few of the people who click on your build log will feel motivated to download a pdf to see the work, so posting some photos here will get you more views. As of just now, for example, your post has been viewed thirty times, but the file has only been downloaded twice. Cheers!
  18. I tried to catch one when I visited Minnesota this past August, but they didn't cooperate. I caught a few bluegill, but hey, who hasn't? 😑
  19. Welcome aboard, Dave! Maybe between the two of us we can get Bob to try a card model!
