  1. Sherry: Thanks for dropping in. It is good to see everyone getting back in the swing of things. Russ
  2. Sherry: This is a very nice looking model and I am glad to see this log again. Thanks for posting it. Russ
  3. Ron: That is an interesting method for making cleats. I will have to file that one for future use. Thanks. Russ
  4. Pat: Thanks for dropping by. I agree. This is really kind of fun for me to go back and look over this material. Russ
  5. That is a LARGE model. Your work is quite beautiful. Thanks for sharing it with us. Russ
  6. John: Thanks for looking in. This is one of those small projects that I really wanted to post again. It is just so easy to do. Russ
  7. Here are the oarlocks and oars, the display base and a set of horses for the skiff to be mounted on, and some views of the completed model. Questions and comments welcomed. . Russ
  8. Here are some photos of my oyster skiff build. This is an easy project for a first time scratch builder. The entire build is in store bought basswood and the only tools are readily available hand tools. Anyone can do this. Here are some photos of the templates, the building jig, and the initial construction of the shell. More to come. Questions and comments welcomed. Russ
  9. Pete: You might consider puting the papered sides facing away from each other in the finished frame. That will make it easier to see the layout lines on both sides of the frame. It will also make it easier to clean off the paper after the frames are glued up. Russ
  10. Robbyn: Your model is coming along very well. The first planking looks well done. Remember, it just has to be smooth so that the finished layer will go on well. Yours looks fine. Nice work. Russ
  11. Your framing looks very good. Nice work. I look forward to seeing more progress. Russ
  12. It is actually quite simple. You can use single blocks on both blocks or a single and a double. If using the single and double, then the double block is at the bulwark and the single is hooked to the carriage. The tackle is seized into the butt end of the single, then reeves through the double, back through the single, and then back through the double. If two singles are used, then the tackle is seized to the butt end of the bulwarks single, then back through the carriage single, and then through the bulwark single. Russ
  13. Bob: You are doing some really nice work. I like your right angle jig. That will be good to use on a fully framed model as well. Good job. Russ
  14. Pasi: Good to see you back. Your Rattlesnake really looks nice. That last photos shows a great looking sheer line. You are doing good work. Russ
  15. Michael and Mark: Thanks for looking in. Here is a look at the bulwarks planking. More to come. Questions and comments welcomed. Russ
  16. Here is a look at the fitting of the spar blanks. You can see the overall scale of the model. The bowsprit has been shaped, but the others are just square stock of the proper length. More to come. Questions and comments welcomed. Russ
  17. Elia and John: Thanks for looking in. This is fun, revisiting the progress thus far. Russ
  18. Chuck: Posting it like this makes me look really fast. That is a nice, although entirely erroneous, image. Russ
