The name of the actual ship does indeed start with a 'P',but you are correct that is the name of the organisation I knew this could prove to be interesting .This may take a little longer,if you actually google the ship's name,nothing comes up!!! Kind Regards Nigel

I think Belgrano,ex USS Pheonix was Brooklyn class.Several were sold to South American countries post war,some to Brazil and one to Chile?Rock has to be Rio de Janeiro,but from an odd angle. Kind Regards Nigel

Can't promise anything before bedtime mate I have received a high res image from Janos by email ( thanks again )which will help me no end.I have lot's of drawing work to do before I touch boxwood again for the carving.At the minute,carrying on with the otherside of the hull as I really need to replace my milling bit as it has seen better days now Thanks for your plethora of likes,oh poo just remembered I have to post an entry in name the ship . Looking good Mark If you find the need to remove the reference tabs in an area where you are working,and it will definitely be covered with planking,i.e. above the main wales,you could always drill a tiny hole outside to inside on the frames centreline.This would obviously remain no matter how much fairing you did. Excellent work Bob!!! Just a quick question,have you tried the B.Casey brass black on any soldered parts yet?I have given up with the Carrs stuff,not overly impressed,but they do a different blackener for solder,just wondered if this would do both. Kind Regards Nigel

Hi Keith I have never seen the frame joints highlighted on modern or contemporary models.Many original Admiralty models didn't have built up frames like the original ship,just as many didn't have detailed interiors.There are a lot of original construction details omitted from many of these models.The main aim was to convince the Admiralty they wanted your design.Accurate representation of the hull construction was unnecessary as this would follow the stardard practice of the time.This was also the case with masting and rigging which is why the models were presented unmasted Many of the pics you see now of these models have had masting and rigging added at a later date,which was done at the request of the private owner of the model. To 'highlight' these joints,off course is entirely a personal choice.If you were to enter into a competition I feel your model may be marked down as a result,but of course you are at the mercy of the judges on the day so who knows. Hi Max Abebooks.co.uk have several secondhand copies for sale as I believe the book is out of print at the moment.Unfortunately they range from rather expensive to the ridiculous in price.Suggest you have a look and see what you think.Don't think you will find a pdf as the book pre-dates the kindle revolution.You can wait and keep an eye on Amazon,I wanted AOS Victory,first look they were £200 upwards,kept checking and found one for £35 some months later.
