Hi Patrick, Thanks for compliment! I think that it isn't my talent, but modern photoequipment. My camera does everything instead me. I only press the button Best Regards! Igor.

No, Patrick, I still didn't even turn on my lathe. I use the usual minidrill. Look at the photos below - in some minutes I made a bottle for an example. It is really simple. Best Regards! Igor.

Thanks Patrick and Matt! Today I think as to make windows in the schooner case. I was going to paste the PE details, but the result wasn't pleasant to me. I tried to make them of the thin tube. I used a needle from a syringe with a diameter of 0,6 mm and I inserted the parts of the tube into openings. Perhaps someone can offer other ways? Best Regards! Igor.

Hi Patrick and Mark, Thanks for good works! Mark, it was actually very simply made. I used Proxxon, a bamboo toothpick, a scalpel with the blade 11 and an emery paper, then I varnished a bottle and I painted a stopper. Best Regards! Igor.

Hi Patrick, I painted fabric sideways of the sail and then stretched these painted parts of threads on the sail. I thought that the small bottle of brandy won't be superfluous Best Regards! Igor.

Hi Leo-zd, Great advice! How could I forget about this kind of paper? How did you do the seams? It's like a thread with glue. Best Regards! Igor.

Hi Bob, OK, if I am not able to make a figure of the captain Slokum, I will speak that the captain in a cabin reads the book. Couple of days ago to me presented one more small bottle and now I am again compelled to choose between an old bottle and new. You can look today's update below Best Regards! Igor.

Yes, Carl, I have a few bottles suitable for this model (I wrote about choosing a bottle at the beginning of this log), but at the beginning of the construction, I chose one. Yesterday I was presented with another bottle and now I think again. Best Regards! Igor.

Hi everyone, Patrick, Carl, Bob, David and all who click on the Like many thanks for good works and the interest to my model. David I have ordered previously and had already received several sets of the PE detailes, such as rails, round windows, anchors, steering wheels, and many others. I use them when I can not make myself these details. So I completed the rails and set them in place. You can see them in the photo below. I used the needle instead instead the drill. Best Regards!
-
Thanks Patrick, I have used the part of the photoetched set for the railing. I tried to make it of a wire earlier, but the result wasn't pleasant to me. Best Regards! Igor.

So, railings... In the morning I made it for the right side. I pasted racks of the wire with a diameter of 0,15 mm to the PE detail. Best Regards! Igor.

The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
