Well hello boys and girls. My wife mother in law father in law and daughter all chipped in to get my my next project It is something I have been looking at for a year I know it's not the biggest grandest or most impressive model out there but I do believe she will be beautiful never the less I am proud to be building this rendition of a true American antiquity And now the unveiling of the King of the Mississippi Hope you all enjoy

Hey mark She's a looking great How hard has it been for you to go from kits to scratch Looks like you've been doing scratch for years great butt on that girl

Hey tom seems like I was there from the beginning but I do have to say that the slide show rejuvenated the imagination and interest. It shows the progression that I had forgotten It reminded me of how a simple few peices of wood can transform into a piece of art

Hey tom tagging along too huh I'm the same with the skill level I have for this model vs price range I can't wait to see this girl take shape
-
Nigel I didn't actually have any carvings on my constellation It's not a very decorative ship In a good artist with a pencil but with wood I have yet to try carving Yours are turning out great Suggestions Try getting some scale texturing by tapping some fine wire mesh on the surface just enough to make a slight imprint think that would be awesome Try it out first on a scrap price just to see how it turns out

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
