  1. Rapido is finished more or less, added base board, some poor rope coils, just need a mast cap and flag halliard and she's done, this has been a good diversion for me from the sirius as I was losing my way and rushing/losing interest, she is now back on the bench and in target again and touch up the painting of the wales by the look of these photos regards Paul
  2. Wow, looking good guraus, welcome back, hows that beautiful victory of yours holding up?
  3. After another day of beautiful weather, even bad the garage door open to get a breeze through, finished the elm tree pump, and more of the rigging, I added some backstays even though they probably wouldn't have been needed on a dockyard boat like this but they add to the scene nicely and I got to practise on some more hooks😁
  4. Todays update, I endeavoured to make a hook following archjofo's instructions for his amazing hooks, First one came out mot to bad I think, needs further refinement but that should come with practise, Best photo I could take with the phone, anyone know how to do closeups with a phone camera?? Finished making rope for the shrouds and added to the mast, getting a bit crowded up ther Added moulding channels etc to starboard side and now working on chains and deadeyes
  5. Sorry Chris, wrong, tempura is a batter, panko are dried Japanese breadcrumbs, ie on breaded fish or for use in fishcakes/meatballs etc
  6. Managed 8 hours today as a bit warmer outside, started on the chains after making the channels, added some fore and aft rigging including the traveller out of brass rod, making rope for the shrouds now and for the other stays in dark brown also added some little timber heads on the fore caprail ready for belaying bowsprit ropes, I know this is a longboat/yacht but thinking about it being a working boat as well, I added a couple of served burton pendants and a triple block on the boom
  7. Shortcut you I don't believe it!!! Really though its looking awesome, nice work Regards Paul

  10. Wow so much new content to read through, I guess everybody is getting in extra shed time I managed 6 hours today as very cold out there Started in the rudder, made both booms and the ironwork at the top of the mast, also started the main mast for the cheerful Looking forward to another full days work tomorrow😁
  11. Very very nice, I love the shine on that deck, I've just polished mine to a nice sheen, you might want to put some gloss on that door while you're stuck indoors😁😁
  12. @MarkP @druxey hi guys, any ideas what this little gratings is for? There is a box underneath like a rope locker now I've made as best as I can maybe it will prompt some ideas Thanks Thanks Paul
  13. I think you are dead right on that one Keith, three months I reckon, so after another day in paradise, 4 degrees in the shed I suddenly realised while I was flying along on the deck I hadn't finished the planking, which would have been very difficult with anything else attached, so today I finished the garboard etc, as no suggestions came forward for the chimney I spent an hour with the dental drill and assorted burrs carving out the middle of the lime temporary one I made, looks quite good I think after painting, also added moulding on the larboard side and made both of the booms, tomorrows tasks are hinges for the cockpit door and the moulding for the starboard Three months of this 6/7 hours a day in the garage could see this finished, the cheerful rigged, Sirius finished and onto the Winchelsea full time Oh yea and I made the rudder so need to make tiller and pintles gudgeons etc
  14. Hi Keith Way ahead of you on that one, mowed the lawns on Tuesday for the First time, with the lovely weather weve been having we have started to let ollie out, poor lamb gets tired running around though and has found a new resting place, for Amelia- Foredeck caprails being fitted this afternoon Thanks for dropping in, stay safe everyone Regards Paul
  15. current state of play after 5 days in the garage, working on the door to the accommodations and trying to work out how to make the curved chimney as its quite large, I made a temporary one out of basswood but it needs to be hollow to look good
  16. Whilst finishing the deck furniture I started thinking about the rigging, I was originally going to do a full cutter rig but now I'm not sure, I don't think this boat would have ever left the dockyard and wouldn't need that much rig and I'm thinking a simple fore and aft longboat rig would be more suitable, any suggestions??
  17. So work was shut down last Friday, plenty of time in the garage, and we have had some nice weather to boot, although a chilly wind I got the sliding top for the cabin entrance completed, the strange shaped piece that was discussed above is also completed, looking at the plans again there is a box underneath that goes down to the keel, I'm wondering if it is a rope locker similar to a shot locker, there is a small grating in the middle, also added some bolts and metalwork to the capstan
