  1. I have the AL Mayflower kit 1:64(3/16"/ft) it comes with sails, I could scan them and e-mail if you want. let me know, would be happy to help
  2. Looks good Brian, I like the look of the served lines. Is it very hard doing that? Also what size of line do you use for serving?
  3. Such a nice kit and you are doing it justice. That deck planking is incredible work, is that cedar?
  4. It is all looking nice and neat Bryan, you have a valid point about the deck furniture probably a good idea to check that out(good catch). The frames look good painted and with the wood not taking stain evenly you had no choice but to paint. Are they basswood frames, if they are I have never been able to get basswood to take a stain evenly either. I think it is just the nature of the wood and it just cries for paint.
  5. Option 2 would look good Brian. I like the jig you made for drilling, great idea. And by the way I took your advice and bought a Sherline mill now I just have to learn how to use it.
  6. Hi Greg, looks like you are going hard. When I do planking I only blacken one side of the plank and never blacken the ends, it is also easier if you draw lines on the deck first marking where your butts are going to be(this helps keeping them aligned) . When planking, normally the pattern is repeated every three or four rows not every second, however, in your case I think that would make some of your planks too short. I, myself would have used full planks for this deck as it does not seem as though it is that long. Hope this helps, if not ignore it :)
  7. Looks like you have a good start, appears as though there will be lots of frames to glue to so hopefully one layer of planking will work
  8. Very interesting build with lots of different methods of building. I am really enjoying this build, thanks for sharing. Looking forward to seeing more. Don
  9. That is beautiful work, absolutely amazing. I am still trying to figure out how that is done, unlike yours mine tend to become kind of pear shaped . Don
  10. Looks like your planking turned out just fine, the ship's boat looks good also
  11. Looks real good Brian, You certainly have the eye for detail. Are you sure you only built one boat before this? LOL As for those wooden mast hoops, it really helps if you give them a good douse of ca before cutting them off the blank. I had the same problem when I tried making them out of wood. Enjoy your Saturday\ Don
  12. Hi Martin, I just checked my kit and the two bundles that appear to be the same(other than the one is marked deck planking) measure out to be .85mm x 4.3mm. and I also have a figure head included in my kit. Anyway watching your build is interesting and educational I 'll be watching closely and let you get ahead before I start mine. Maybe by that time I'll have figured out how to start a log and post pictures!! Enjoy your build Don
