Hi Brian.  I don't glue any of the masts.  I run temporary lines to steady the masts until the rigging is set up.  I use card templates to check the angles, but I think eyeballing works fine. -Hal

Strong men and brut force.  I once recovered a 8 ft dingy in rough water by myself, getting up on deck 3 ft above the water.  Not easy but it can be done.  What is not said is the size of the boat nor the size of the crew. (?) -Hal

Very nice work,but I think you are over gunning the ship.  American privateers had large crews to take other ships by boarding.  They wouldn't get into gun duels because they didn't want to do much damage the ship they wanted to capture.  Privateering was about making money.  Any guns carried would mostly be mid ship for weight considerations, especially on these schooners.  Four to six guns were I think the normal.  Just my opinion.  Your ship is coming along VERY nicely.  You are the captain so you can arm it as you see fit.  - Hal

A good book, but I too have been waiting/hope for a volume 2.

I agree with Shipman.  They were practical men.  If something was in the way and not needed it would most likely be stored.   A side question,  do your door hinged work?  Your work is beyond words, I love watching your ship come together, wonderful!- Hal

Working in 1/96 scale there is no such thing as too small, all go into labelled ( by wood type ) plastic shoe boxes. 😁 - Hal

Dave, your model is too nice Not to put in a case.  I took to long to get one of mine in a case and paid dearly for it (cat that likes string!)  Now once I know the rigged size I make the case. - Hal

I believe each crew member had 2 hammocks if I remember correctly. - Hal
