I agree At this time in their lives these ships were almost as much showboat as warship. They were in many ways the pride of the US Navy as the last surviving battleships in the world. Crewmen were begging to serve on them, kind of like how the British felt about the Hood in the 30s. You will probably never see a picture of one of the Iowa's where they don't look pristine in their later deployments and refits except when the Iowa had a gun blow up in 1989.

The builder make the difference. The PE is just parts like all the other parts. Are you going to add railings, or keep her submerged?

I'm pretty sure you would laugh, looking at me affects people that way. On the other hand you would have to move out this way. I would be nothing but a puddle on the floor with eyeballs sticking out in your heat. You could show me how to properly build ships and after I refinanced my house and could afford the ammo we could go shooting.

He is a Radiologist and his only direct patients are other doctors! It may be true though that they kicked him out of where ever Radiologists hangout when they are at the hospital. I understand he works at home a lot now and does his consulting over the computer and phone.

Just to show you how dumb I am, I have been looking and wondering about the square hole in the hull under the sail was for this entire build. It suddenly came to me in a flash! The bow on this sub is almost all sonar! The torpedo room is amidships and the hole is a door for the tubes. Hopefully Kevin or someone more knowledgeable will straighten me out if I am wrong.

Probably 99% of what I say here is not serious. In my opinion you have to know about something to be serious and you need to remember that you are reading stuff written by someone who has been stuck on understanding proper planking technique for a month now! My kids, (really grandkids) seem OK with what life has given them, (An almost 70 year old father instead of the 25-35 year old they should have) The 11 year old insisted on sitting in his chair next to me both evenings we went camping with my arm draped over his shoulder while watching the campfire. He is too big to fit in my lap anymore. And the older (15) seemed to enjoy talking around the campfire about just stuff and old days. It looks like I may be heading out cog’s way in the next year or so. Seems like he has developed an interest in seeing where the Vikings came from. We at also got some time in building almost identical 1/12 power suit figures. Didn't get them done of course as my back doses not allow sitting on wooden benches for extended times anymore, but maybe I can use it as an excuse to drag him out of his room now and then for more than twenty minutes at a time. After almost forty years and three generations of kids my wife is pretty aware of who I am and seems to be willing to suffer through more of it. Like I said elsewhere she seems willing to make it a life sentence. Besides she need me to drive her to appointments and stuff like that that has taken over all too much of our life these days! So like Carl say it is mostly better not to worry too much about what I say. Just consider the source and shake your head. Oh and you could be thankful that I'm not your next door neighbor!

Looking forward to it's availability for sales outside of Russia. I looked at My normal Russian sources on eBay and nothing there yet. I will be buying at least one when i can get it, possibly more. Good luck on future sales Eugene.

?????????????? Nice to know it is pleasant anyway, whatever it is. Maybe you could try convincing my wife that I am a pleasantly surprising kind of person? I don't think her or the kids think that much of me.

But there is an Agincourt. 14 twelve in guns in seven turrets! For years they said that if she ever fired a broadside at full charge she would roll over. In Jutland they said that every time she let go she looked like she had blown up! Everyone held their breath until she came out of her own cloud of smoke! Not really a very pretty ship I suppose but awesome firepower for her day.

Unless you sing like my oldest son who could not carry a tune if his life depended on it. He ended up playing drums instead. Even did it professionally off and on and until he moved was playing a few times a year in a couple of clubs and contests with a few other doctors who made up a band in their spare time. Luckily being a doctor doesn't require having a singing voice. Anything above that level of singing i can put up with for at least short times. If you go beyond that I will just turn down the volume on my keyboard!

I wish you every success in producing and marketing these small kits Eugene. As has already been said, I think they will go far to fill a void for many model ship builders.

Problem solved then. If the kit items are better then by all means stick with the kit stuff. No since in degrading the model just to use up the brass! It it is too small to be handled then it is probably too small to be seen and is little more than a brass blob and if painted over in a more traditional model would be missed all together. Don't shortchange yourself. You have already enhanced the model considerably with your work, even if you have not used every part available.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
