    Hello Nick, I'm a member here and also a sponsor. I have an internet business that deals with Proxxon. The Proxxon TG 125 is a very versatle 5" (125mm) sander. You can check out the specs on my website. You would need the 220v model and it would not be cost effective to ship it from the states to the UK. There is a Proxxon distributor in Germany and I understand that the UK users have been happy with them. Perhaps one of the UK people here on the forum can tell you how to get a hold of them.     You know I just thought about the Billet Head. Mine was very poorly cast and I really am not pleased with it. I'm not going to change it since I''m finished, but it could have been a lot better. I like your idea about carving it - you should have good results. It will be interesting to see your results.

    Hi Mike, she's off to a great start. To answer your question, seems like I just measured the height of the rail from the plankshear for the stanchions, and then the same for the Knight heads. The Profile drawing on Sheet 2 shows a scale drawing and you can take that measurement right off the plans. It should be right on the mark. The stanchions were a little on the long side so that they would move up or down to match up with the rail. The Knight head as well as a couple of stanchions are cut into the filler blocks and then trimmed. Hope this helps, you can probably see this in my pictures.

    Hello my friend, I am sorry I neglected following your log and got involved in my Morgan. I am finished now and can devote time to catching up with my friends. I am sorry to hear about Anja's loss...my deepest regrets. You Aggy is amazing and I would expect nothing else. Keep it up and someday retirement will be here.     Wow, I've been gone a few days and have much to catch up with. Thanks to everyone for all the comments, likes and kudos. For keeping it brief I just want thank all of you. It's great to be at this point, now in my spare time I'm editing, reviewing and updating my websites. Trying to figure out what's next....

    Wow, thanks to all that commented. It's been quite a ride, and I have to admit, I loved every second of it. Thanks to all that have contributed and supported this project. Kind of a bitter sweet end..... George, many thanks to all the comments and support. Grant, thanks for all the input and accolades, and for being such a good friend! Schooner, thanks for all your comments along the way. Mike, thanks for all your support, as far as I know the scraps were cleaned up and discarded back in 2013 and the final disposition was in 2014. My scrap Base was a discarded piece from the day before I was there and the trash bin had been either auctioned or hauled off prior to that. The guy that provided me with it told me that it was scrap and that it was one of the last pieces to be cut out and he identified where it came from on the ship since he personally threw it in the trash. Trash for ship's but a great base for a model....especially since they are the same. Mobbsie: Hi Tony, thanks for your comments...to answer the question:.....I have no idea! David, thanks for stopping by and your comments. I know what you mean about the whale, I do not support whaling, nor do I like anything about it. The model of course is a Whaler, and to give it proper justice, I thought I would make a semi-diorama for the purpose of recording it's purpose and a reference as to scale. I'm glad that for the most part this practice has ceased. These massive creatures deserve the ocean and for mankind to leave them alone. Thanks to all for your continued support..... John

    Well, my belt sander came in Friday and I've completed the base, mounted the ship to it, and I have a 3/16" scale Sperm Whale that I sculpted to go alongside the ship along with a fully fitted out whaleboat complete with sails. the whale has been harpooned and lanced and tied alongside. I am now officially finished. The base is a slab of wood cut from the Bowsprit of the real Morgan, obtained from the Dupont Preservation Shipyard, Mystic Seaport, Mystic, CT., rough finished and Satin Varnished to protect it. I'M DONE! Anyone interested on the steps to accomplish this can find all the details in my website BUILD LOG - PART VI at the bottom of the log as well as a lot of photographs.     Hi Dennis, welcome back. Thanks for all the great accolades. I still have a few tricks up my sleeve, unfortunately I can't put her in a case...I just don't have enough room in the house, and we might be going full time in the RV soon. Holidays were great, hope the same for you. I'm glad you like the Morgan.....she's way more than I ever expected possible....come back soon....there's still a little left to go yet...

    Hello to all and Happy 2016. Thanks for all the comments and the like button. Greg, the finish I have now has been sprayed with an acrylic satin finish varnish. I'm trying to preserve this color. Since everything is crisp and brand new looking I want to keep the whole ship this way. Thanks George, glad we're all safe at home. Thanks Piet, the same for you and Gwen, give her a hug and a New Years kiss for us. Thanks Mark, hope all is well in Oregon, you guys have been getting kind of beat up lately John

    Hi Lester, yeah, I think I have an area I could cut off for you. I'll be working on the base next week weather permitting. I can't work on it inside...too big. I'll get the pictures for you just as soon as we get a decent blue sky for the photos. It's been cloudy and rainy looking every day since I got finished. This morning was clear but real windy, and when the wind died back it was threatening rain and cloudy again, so it didn't look good outside. I'm anxious for Dick to see them and see what he thinks. Maybe the flag will do the trick....lol

    Hi Tony, I am honored to have your approval Mate, thank you. I hope the base turns out like I think it will, it will be different and I think its cool to have a model mounted on a piece of the real ship...I was lucky and at the right place at the right time with the right person to be able to pull it off. Probably another week or 10 days to finish that too. I'm waiting for a belt sander to come in. John
