Thankyou so much for your generous comments, and also to those who have shown interest and ‘liked’ my  stuff.
It is very satisfying to know that my ramblings and musings have been of some help to my fellow modellers.

    Only one question remains….

Where am I going to put this fine addition to my Vanguard collection.

For the present she will remain in my office beneath her protective cover.

Thank you Chris for providing the makings.

Congratulations B.E. on this beautiful build.  I love the way the model sits on the keel blocks.  I have enjoyed following your build log.

    Beautiful build BE!
Your work is exemplary and your logs are a joy to watch. Not to mention the wealth of information they contain.
I really like the display you chose.

Another excellent model BE, congratulations!  I have followed your detailed and instructive logs for years now, they were a constant reference for me for my own Pickle and Pegasus. I like the display and the partial matting, a unique presentation. I have the goal to create a book on my Winchelsea, inspired by your creating one for all your models. looking forward to what’s next.

Congratulations on completing yet another fine build B.E. As usual, your build log is both interesting and informative. Thank you for the care and effort you put into producing these logs - they are an inspiration to us all.

Congratulations on the completion of yet another fine build, B.E. A very clever presentation as well, saving you a lot of vertical space!

Aha! time traveller Bob must have a Sassanach and a Bairn waiting at home, whatever the century.
Congratulations Maurice, you've done your typical amazing work with Harpy. Another aspirational, top-drawer Build Log.

Alright, that went much better than I had hoped!

Except for two figures with insufficient supports in one spot, they all printed perfectly!

Even with all the ridiculously thin elements like the saber hand guards etc. This technology is some real Sci-Fi. Remember, these are at 1:64 scale, so around 26 mm for man-height.

    Here's a bunch of pictures:

And then I made a copy paste error in the slicer and got two figures in the same spot.. 🤣

But I am very happy with these results. With a few tweeks of the few misprints, they should all be good to go.

I think your biggest achievement is  your obvious enjoyment of a first build, recognition of areas that you hope to improve, and an appetite gained to build another.

    Well done.👍

    Thank you!

The version that Jim will have will be much more refined, the V frames and rails took an age to prefect, and that pic is the result of 4 previous versions that were added, ripped off, copy/paste.
For the 5 V frames, I will include as standard 2 full sets on 2mm pear, and a set on 2mm MDF. I do this because the edges and notches for the rails do need bevelling, so perhaps having a set or two to practise on will help.

No PE decoration on this one, as I find the PolyBak or thin pear much better, and looks a lot more ‘natural’. I find PE is still better to use for window frames at this scale, however. I have tried to limit the PE to mostly ‘Ironwork’, parts that would have been in some sort of metal in real life – or some parts simply because they would be far too fragile in any other material.
Here is a pic of the starboard quarter gallery, just after I added the ‘shingles’

I will now spend the next week or so adding the parts I have already designed to the hull, and then send Jim the remaining laser cut parts, so he will have the full kit. One last decision will be how the stern davits are secured - not 100% sure yet....

A few things to enjoy from the bow image.
Look at the subtle curve of the hull form.
The elegance of the headworks, and graceful sweep of the main Rail.
The provision of double seats of ease.
The hinged bracket for the  Boomkins in the False rail.
    The cills around the gunports.
A fine figure for the head.
and knowing that behind the bow the space is properly formed allowing the detailing of mangers and Bowsprit stop.
The Maturin figure, provides the interesting task of getting that subtle patina to the cello surface.

    Tasty stuff indeed  Chris.👌

A pity we never got a celluloid sequel to M&C in which to flesh out Dr. Maturin's character -- he was the far more interesting of the two protagonists throughout the series of novels, e.g., physician, polymath, revolutionary, spy, deadly assassin, and, as the man who somehow managed to win the affections of Diana Villiers, an inspiration for average-looking guys everywhere.

Today I received this render of a work in progress for my Aubrey/Maturin scene for my Surprise kit. Here is Maturin, I was asked if this is OK...

Also today marks the end of heavy designing for Surprise, with the finalising of the bow area, designs are now more or less complete! Thought I'd never finish them!

Another planking tip, one I use: drill a tiny "starter" hole for the planking pins, this helps minimize the effort to seat the temporary pins. This is a lot more work but well worth the effort IMHO.
You'll end up bending many fewer pins as well as fewer expletives!

In some areas of the planking where the tension wants to push the plank from the bulkhead I also drive the pin(s) flush. This helps insure there is better contact while the glue dries. HOWEVER - I have a pin pulling plier tool that can grip the flush heads of the pins to extract them. The tip of this tool will make a slight indentation in the wood surface around the pin's head, but so what? This only works for the first planking where small impressions from this extraction process will be covered. The small marks around the holes will also be filled-in once the filling and sanding work commences.
