Is it the red or the gloss that you don’t like?
If it’s the gloss then try spraying on a dull coat (clear matt varnish).
This is what I do if I have gloss paint on hand , just a coat of dull get's rid of the gloss .

Finished painting the hull. This is by far the best waterline I've ever done, and I attribute that to some vinyl masking tape I found on Amazon. Instead of piecing Frog tape to follow the line curve, this stuff just flexes to do it. I also used a tip I got from this site, which is to run a bead of varnish down the edge to seal it.
I can give anyone who is interested in the product the Amazon reference -- just send me a message.
Regards,
David
I would like to know what kind of tape you used , thanks so much .

Wow that 3M tape is expensive , but I know you get what you pay for , I have a friend in the auto body business see if he can get me some . Great advice about storing your tape , perhaps some of mine has dried out .

Tamiya makes masking tape for curves, in various widths. I've seen it on their website and also on Amazon, maybe other places as well.
The white stuff ? If so I have some but for some reason it doesn't seem to work for me .

I always have a hard time with painting waterlines on my hulls , I am using Tamiya tape and was wondering if there is something better out there ? Thanks in advance . Edit to add I build plastic ship models .

Ahhh, yes. I have the Keel Klamper! Has worked pretty well for me when needed! I also have this foam thing that my Bluenose is currently sitting in. I like it because of its short height. With the Keel Klamper, the ship sits higher than I like for some things, especially when working on the deck.
Your planking will work itself out. Sanding will do wonders and, once painted, the casual observer won't know how many planks you placed...
I have the same foam cradle .

I would like to find a new home for this book , not the type of model I build at least not yet . Free shipping is on me as long as it's the lower 48 and a member that's been here awhile .

good evening everyone
thank you for comments and likes
day 47 2nd planking of the Starboard side
not been well recently, Not Covid like my mum has in ospickle, just flu, very tired and my gwet up and go, was got up and gone
however i try to do a bit on the build daily
my planking is improving, maybe to late to make this a good looking hull, the tapering is beetter, a lot less of it, so i decided to attempt a 4 plank butt system to push myself a little, it does take a little longer, the biggest issue is finding planks that are the same width, to avoid any gaps
The top of my garbage bin looks just like that , from all the ships I have painted . 😀
