  1. Clean desk policy by the Admiral? And as said before me, another beautiful build. You can see how much you have improved over time, when you look at the middle ship of the three and the last ... a stunning difference. The white, being sterile, emotionless, and the Borodino all roughened up and raw. Great result mate. Time to start on space ships
  2. I like those skiffs, Mark. It is certainly on my bucket model list. Time, however, is of the essence, and I've got not enough of it. Hence, I'll enjoy you building one.
  3. Another worth while build ... Can't wait to see you tackle this one. Thought I saw it in Open Boat by I.H. Smith but that can't be since those are 18'
  4. Fortunately at 1/72, you can use the ailleron any which way you want ... not much difference. I am trying to rig at that scale ... hard on the eyes, hands too ... will you be doing the rigging on the doctor ?
  5. Edward, nice to see you tag along. You'll see it in Northern African paint scheme, just not this kit, but the next which is waiting. It merely needs some more fiddly work than this one. Started on the cockpit for the other, once finished, I need to build the engine ....... more tiny parts
  6. Hello Joe, welcom to another short build. Yes I like the plane itself, and the Germans give you a tremendous choice when it comes to paint schemes
  7. A really lovely build Dick. You have out done yourself again. I like it without the sails, gives a good impression of the ship as it is, no sails obstructing the general view. P.s. I love the background of the photograph, as if she belongs, always been there
  8. Painting result ... I didn't realise myself that once I coverd the plane in chipping fluid, it woould have certain consequences ... I have to remask it for the red and the other colours ... I will be ripping the masked colour layers off, at least partly ... ... already some of the white has been "damaged" when removing the masking tape. If it will be worse, Bf 109G-6 is in for a wash and polish ... The red requires some patience ... on order
  9. Ken, Dennis, I was partial to the Northern African camouflage too, I might just use that one on the third build. Something colourful for a change would be nice, hence the red, white, grey, green and some sort of blueish/purplish, undefindish on the the tail. The last one will be pimped with a radio compartment, a detailup cockpit (as in this one), and an engine. This one and the previous one can't take off without an engine It took me an hour to do the masking for the white, the red will be slightly easier ... we'll see. The Coolpix I used for the photographs leaves somewhat to be desired. Lighting is off, or it's the metal paint which makes the uncovered parts nearly uniform silvery First there is paint work to do!
  10. Thanks Mark, I'll go for the white crossed one. I have another one to build after this one ... I still have another choice to make when the time comes
  11. Instead of a light greyish colour I have used AK Extreme Metal Steel colour (didn't have Alu) which I sprayed in a random way, and partly accentuating pannels. It doesn't need to be accurate, as long as there is a difference between the black and the steel. It already looks quite nice ... no not ready. Added a clear coat on top of the metal paint, and now it's time for chipping fluid. After that waiting for some MRP (Mr Paint) paint I ordered for the Swiss version ... this will be fun. A lot easier than your Roden kit Denis?
  12. Black primer to prepare the body for some depth. Instead of darkening the panel lines, I do it the other way around, which I found to be easier and give a more realistic effect
  13. The big glued blob, as you can see I put on the canopy, it's partly glued on, the rear has been stuck on with blue tack and will be replaced with the definitve one after painting. This I found easier than masking. Ready for priming ...
  14. It's a bit of a melting pot that build spinach man ... the admiral must be laughin' 'er 'ead off ... that's w'at 'appens w'en you start a build you shouldn't 'ave started ... at least not yet. Very nice recovery ... you remember to put the seat, floorboard and steering gear in before you close up Guns are great mate
  15. Next build the Eduard Bf 109G-6 with the Eduard extra detailed cockpit I've built before Initial stages, i.e. plucking the sprues empty and glueing it into a big blob, I'll pass over. There the cockpit is the most labour intensive of the entire kit. And as OC would put it: These lits are a real pleasure to work with. Everything fits. So I'll be focussing on the painting and the other finishes. Abit of weathering ...? Who knows. What's in the box ... I have been searching the net for a nice colour scheme. There are so many for the German planes. Real challenges compared to most war birds, especially the modern ones. It will be either the all aluminum - second airplane in the first picture, or one of the others. Still undecided. The all alu is not the hardest scheme, but I would like to know how the AK extreme metal paints behave. Weathering will be minimal as not much will be possible ... a bit of grime, rust and that's about all. The others well a different cookie, any favourites?
  16. Very nice. Where did you get your details for this version of the Lancaster to bring it out as the SAR bird
  17. Quite a beaut Ernie. The scale makes things very visible. The 1/72 Fokker Dr I's I built seem oddly unpolished and crude.
  18. I love this kit, ordered it, but it seems I'll be waiting for some time before I even can lay my hands on it ... if ever. Lovelyy build. Really like what you've done with it weathering wise.
