So here you are hiding, spinach man! Yes the kit's sprues look exactly like the 1/72's version ... You'll have some post adjustments to do before you can go on. On the other hand it is (model)building, so what's the fun just trhowing it all together? Decided on a colour scheme yet? The black I found a bit simple, and hardly satisfying to make. Ready before you know it and hardly a challenge. Enough talking, get on with it mate

Thanks Ernie, Welcome to the log. So where are your buildlogs? The 1/48's I built took more time, because you can do more detail, the 1/32 must be even better, probably more PE choice too -
If she hadn't the superstructure, she could go for a very early sub. Gawd , you make her look "pretty"!!

Welcome aboard captain_hook. Yes it is also a 1/72. Unfortunately discontinued. I'll try to make a group photograph, but you know these planes need to go in the air as often as possible Thought I could force your hand mate, not so hard after all -
Marvelous build, Jesse. You have done her, and yourself proud. I have enjoyed the, sometimes bumpy, road trip, and learned a few tricks on the way. Thanks for sharing

Thanks Ken. Mixing up historical data Denis, He wanted to stick to his Dr I instead of flying the VII. He did indeed tested them -

Nearly, pitty though, you could have won a prize ... However it is a BF 109G-6. There is a 109G-4 which has the gun pods below the wings BF (Bayerische Flügzeug Werke changed to BMW (Bayerische Motor Werke) if I am not mistaken Thanks gents, working on two planes presently, the Dr I and a BF 109G-6 both at 1/48 Waiting for paint presently -

Fortunately for you, no 1/32 readily available (buggah) but this one is rather nice to build too ... at 1/48, still needs a bit of clear lacquer -

Is the Yamato the old or the new tool. You should realise the PE you can buy presently is for the new tool and what I see on the box, it looks like the old one. You'd better compare the kit number with the kit number the detailup set is for. I do not know if there has been new tooling for the bismark, but it never hurts to check if the detailup set fits the kit. I have the Eduard set for the Musashi also a Yamato class battleship, and in all honesty, I was not verry impressed by it.

you are lucky. for both ships there are some nice buildlogs on MSW

Can you get your hands on Mr Paint cleaner? It removes even enamels. That might just be the solution for the stripping, or as Lou suggested. I wouldn't just sand lightly and spray, or hand paint for that matter. It might become looking rather clumsy. Every layer you add with a brush is quite thick, compared to airbrush or rattle can. Maybe you can have decals printed. This is the sheet. Make certain it's at the right scale when you have it printed on decal paper. If you can't give me the measurements of the sheet or from a large decal and I see what I can do for you. You might even try to contact Revell ... it's a German company, so close enough to home So sorry this happened to you. Especially since it really went so well, and it was looking so marvelous

The StripDown ... yes, it still is at the same scale. Have another one in a box. That one I'll keep for old age, just to PMO when building it It's hard to decide indeed. I know the least I like is the first I build. The last photograph series from the present lot. That one has been entirely handpainted and it shows by the naked eye ... paint blobbed instead of painted -

It was, his brother's Nice planes though. I've a 1/48 Dr I in the scaffolding, a black and white stripped with the streaked camouflage, but is not finished. It is gathering dust in the open box. Got some more Dr I's at 1/72 (still in the box), two Messerschmitts 109G-6's, a Spit, and a water plane at 1/48, another Spit at 1/24. I started on the engine for a 109g-6 at 1:24. Must take some picies before I throuw it all in the paint bucket, and finish it. After that the radio compartment, and then the plane. I think the admiral's eyes will bulge when she sees that one. Found a spot to display it, or just bomb it to kingdom come when it's ready? No more airplanes ready, there will be others -

They are fantastic to finish, building is a necessary evil, but choosing what it will look like in the end ... yes, that's the fun part. I added an image to the first post with the paints I used. All vallejo air because it is thin and doesn't dry to fast. You can paint wet in wetish which will get you the streaks. Use a flat brush, only use a rounded for very fine detailed lines if you need to add them. I practise before I start the camouflage, or I must have been painting it almost on a daily basis. With that 20" span sucker you'll be in for a treat. I would most certainly try it out on something. Same material and same size. Use bigger brushes than I did for definitely. You have given me that link before in 2018, thanks for that. It came in very useful. The first plane in the log, all the dcals came from him, the red and yello striping too. Couldn't have done that by hand. Maybe I could do it with an airbrush and masking ... the decal gives a certain result Thaks for the thumbs up -

Thanjs Jack. I haven't decided yet what I'll do. I want to make a mobile fro all Dr I's, I still do but then with maybe a few Nieuwports, as Sopwith Camel is no longer available from Eduard, and I am not impressed by the Roden kits. This will leave me with enough airplanes to make an airfield diorama with the remaining Dr I's (still have three or four in my stack!) Concerning the setup: The size makes it a lot easier for a "photo shoot". I used Youngnuo YN600L Pro Video (LED) and a Falcon Eyes LED Lamp PockeLite. Camera: Canon 5D MkII, a 70-300mm Canon Zoom, and YouPro remote control , studio tripod from Cullman -

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
