    Thanks very much Dimitris and Bob, and all the "likes"... Dimitris, it`s always a risk Dimitris to drill the porthole openings, because the slightest Offset from the centerline marking can cause the further Drilling to wander out a bit. I trust if there would be another build one day I`ll have to make a Drilling jig that orientates from the deck- resp. sheerline Bob, Whatever the hull skin joining method of the "Pequod" will be, I`m sure it will look good.... The combination you mentioned sounds very interesting Nils

    a little update..... the first of the 458 hull`s portholes are put on, and before that the areas were painted... These close ups really don`nt hide anything Nils the most left one is the tube bushing for the aft anchor chain the upper forecastle portholes between the rails twenty of them on each side The plugged off two porthole in the third line from the top were due to misaligned drilling poop deck portholes upper hull portholes on white background strip, under the promenade deck

    Hi Patrick, the black paint is a bit unusual for a large yacht, but I trust it will look great when the other complement colors are on as well. The blue-greyish prime coat you had on the hull before always reminded me of the Color of the huge "Maersk line" Container carriers. Looking foreward to more of your "Marjellan" Nils

    Hi Jack, that is a nice kit and boat model......., I remember The "Marie Jeanne" in scale 1:50 of Billing Boats with it`s two huge poles for thunny fishing was my very first kit, many years ago.. I wish you much fun and enjoyable hours with the build of the model. I loved the lines so much, that I built a second boat after the overview plans (21/2 times larger and for RC controled sailing with removeable 3 KG Ballast. The large model needs restoration for it`s rigging, the small one is in it`s own glass case Nils

    Denis, nice Progress there, I`m admiring that you have the Patience to thorrowly do all the small Detail work, the painting of pipes and deck Fittings etc. and get all These parts to look so fine before you start with further Assembling. The result proves you are doing it absolutely right - a beautiful ship- Nils

    Thank you very much Bob, I`m trying to Keep the upper hull rails clean and in natural wood appeal whilst applying the black paint without messing, and with help of the Tamiya tape masking it really works very well... Nils

    Gerald, your work Looks fantastic, and I presume that a lot of your fellow builders on this site would love to see more of your beautiful and precise work. A steel plated ("riveted") model or a cross section made in build-log steps, in the way you present it on your own site would be great. Trust that this thread ought to be moved (perhaps by moderator) to a new place / Topic "iron and steel ships" or so ... Nils

    Build log part 25 the portholes are not fitted yet, (to be mounted after final painting of hull), but the hull is drilled in the oppropriate places, and the upper two rows will have "eyebrows", to keep the porthole glasses clear The unsymmerical tubing for the aft anchorchain is set and stb-side has the upper bow-decoration attached Nils I am satisfied with the dull black hull color front bow decoration as shown / made in the last post the number of portholes and positions are corresponding with the overview drawing
