Seems the price may have gone up?  I enquired today and A$130 (¥3,700 with postage) is just a little too rich no matter how good the saw.

Little things...I temporarily set the mast to establish where the mast step aligns.  Wedged into the partners so it sets at the proper rake and plumb sis-to-side.

The window frame in the background is my plumb line.
The mast wedges (below) will be put in once I'm ready to permanently step the mast.

    Hi,

The pictures show installation of the limber strakes next to the Keelson has begun. These strakes have a rebate set into them that was cut using the Byrnes saw, they are 12 inches wide and 4.5 thick and are made out of boxwood.

The Kelson has also had its copper bolts installed as per TFFM and they are awaiting blackening with LOS.

Hi again to everyone following or looking in -

So I did, ultimately, cut the anchor winch platform in half and insert a 4mm matching piece in between.  Like the rest of the platform it is a sandwich of 2mm hardwood with a top layer of 0.05” black plastic.  The bottom was ground to the proper slope angle and glued to the deck and to the winches.

The chain stoppers were further reduced in size by about 20%, and maybe a bit more on the handles.  Now the threaded rod is 0.025” and the handles are 0.009” wire.

For the hawse hole covers I made them up as a frame with a flat cover without any details.  I decided that simplicity was best here since I still do not know exactly what they looked like.

The changes are not especially noticeable, but in comparison I think they match just a bit better to the actual ship layout.

So here is the bow deck complete with the fittings secured.  I also added the small rounded platforms for the mate to stand on when mooring the ship.  You can see the starboard one stowed against the bulwark just above the hawse cover.  It flips up and extends out past the bulwark edge to give him full view of the dock and the ship.  You can see it extended in the photo of the ship, above.  The final fitting is a platform and railing at the extreme bow, with the ensign staff mounted in it.  I felt that it was too exposed and likely to catch my careless fingers, so it will be installed near the end of the build.

And here is a view of the entire working deck.  Nothing in it draws my eye as being out of scale, so I am content for the moment.

I hope everyone is equally content with their projects, and that you and your families all enjoy a healthy and happy Thanksgiving.

    Dan

Drew this yesterday, 'coloured it in' today.
I am presently reading 'With Utmost Dispach' a Richard Bolitho novel, in which he is in command of three Royal Navy Cutters in the English Channel. It provided the inspiration for this painting.
This famous Quotation also came to mind!.

BANYAN reacted to Dan Vadas in Bismarck by Dan Vadas - FINISHED - GPM - 1:200 - CARD and PE
Thanks again Carl, Greg and John .

There are two structures either side of the funnel, I have no idea what they are for. EDIT - Thanks to Slog for telling me they are the Hangars for Aircraft (must be broken down?) .

I added lots of card to the poorly designed framing for them. One wall on each is not vertical, rather on an angle, and the roofs of both also aren't symmetrical :

On these structures are three Racks for some of the ship's boats. Cutting and gluing these pieces has taken me the best part of two days. Virtually every piece is a different shape, so keeping track of what went where was tricky :

Some of the brackets had rounded internal corners, so I once again used my punch set for them :

The racks assembled and glued to the hangars. There is still some paint touch-up needed on the joins and folds :

I have not seen one of that shape during my searches Charlie; I wish you luck.

Have you considered making one?  Seems like a bit of suitably sized brass tube cut cleanly at 45 degrees then soldered to form the 90-degree angle would make the main part.  Simply find some conical shape in any material/medium, drill out and slide over the base - paint it black and hey presto

The main yard has been placed and the braces and lifts attached and tightened.

I'll add rope coils once I finish the top sail yard and make sure everything is snug.
