  1. Quote: ……. “I was deeply impressed by the movie about Bob Dylan. My youth passed by. What a fantastic film and what a fantastic actor and what a fantastic singer/songwriter... I have been a fan ever since The times they are a changing. 1964?” …………. Ab Hoving Yes. If I recall correctly, "The Times They Are a-Changin'." Was written by Bob Dylan and recorded by him in 1964. Following up on that, it was then recorded by a group called “The Byrds”, in 1965. They were known for singing many of Bob’s songs, but in their own unique style (I preferred their version). Mike
  2. Fascinating . . . very detailed and dedicated work. Mike
  3. I noticed several aircraft and a ship that you pulled out of your archive . . this one from seventeen years ago. This is my favorite. Looks like the old camera did quite well. The photos look good as does the work. Thanks for sharing these with us. Mike
  4. Thank you Alexander. The information you provided is very helpful. I will continue to watch your beautiful creations. Greetings, Mike

  6. All those drawings add up to plenty of inspiration. The copy of the Van de Velde grisaille “enlarges” nicely. It has an enormous amount of detail. Back to your model ………… you are a quick builder. Looks like the gold leaf will work out well. Mike
  7. Excellent review Chris. For card modelers . . . a bargain for the price. Mike p.s. Where do you recommend as the best place to purchase it?
  8. That is a very nice photo. I think perhaps this has become the most famous shipwreck on the Great Lakes, helped along and memorialized by Gordon Lightfoot’s song.
  9. Regarding the “Admiral”: You are lucky to have someone in charge who is ordering more of your ships. I salute the “Admiral”. Mike
  10. I don’t build wood sailing vessels so I am no expert. But, I don’t think it can be done any cleaner than this. I am curious about one thing: Since joining this site, I noticed there are quite a few Winchelseas being built. What make ship a popular choice? Mike
  11. Your question triggered some thoughts. Why do I model? It shows me that despite my age, I am really still a kid. There is a thrill in inventing new ways of doing things. It is gratifying to know, my current project is better than the last, but not as good as the next. The struggle for perfection is motivating, though I will never get there. Regards, Mike
  12. Well said. I have been looking for those words to describe Ab's work. Thank You.
  13. I do the same thing. Sometimes, for small spars I can roll them from paper. But most of them I make out of wood, and they are well suited for rigging.
  14. That photo proves it. Positioned on the stern, the carving looks even better.
  15. I was wondering the same thing, about the "Guest" notation. Anyway, here is a link to her youtube site. She appears to be quite busy. Olha Batchvarov - YouTube
  16. Hello Chris. Looks like the issue you were dealing with back on July 21 has resolved itself. Lots of additional layers and parts since then. Looks real good. Mike
