Hello Olha, When your sails came out of that varnish/turpentine solution, they looked like a mess. But . . . . (I am learning) . . . . I know when you get finished with them, they will be beautiful. Mike

I watched the video of your “Shipmodeler’s Assistant” (lmbir) doing his work with the yard arms. I think he is a valuable member of your team, and I hope we see more of him in the future. Mike

Hello Olha, I watched video #36 (How to Make a Mouse). Your videos are so well produced, that any builder can learn your methods for doing this marvelous work. You show every step clearly. I am curious about how you make your videos. Question: Is it not very difficult to do all that work down in front of a camera lens? Or do you have many cameras installed around your workshop? Thank you, Mike

I watched several of your videos. The one demonstrating your machines and techniques for making rope and rigging is impressive. The work you are doing with your carrack is marvelous. And . . . It is a pleasure to meet your assistant “Ginger” (Imbir). He is a handsome cat, and a very good assistant I am sure. Mike

Hello, My name is Mike. Thank you for allowing me to join this forum. I build ships in Card & Paper, with some Wood added in as needed. I have been looking through many of the construction logs here for a while. This is an impressive group of craft workers and artists. It looks like a great place to be. Warm Regards, Mike

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
